Electrolux Washer Extractor Error Code 10: Drum Not Drained
Error code 10 means that after a drain period the water in the drum was not below the preset level. Check for a blocked drain or drain valve and for foam from too much detergent. If it keeps coming back, a technician should check the level hose and level control.
Medium: the cycle halts and water stays in the drum, but the cause is generally drainage rather than a machine hazard.

- Applies to
- Compass Control washer-extractors (CPU board, motor control, DLCU)
What does Electrolux Professional error code 10 mean?
After each drain step, the CPU board reads the level system to confirm that the water has dropped under the preset level. If it has not, the board stops and shows ERROR 010 / DRUM NOT DRAINED. The check can fail because the water cannot leave, from dirt in the drain valve or drain line, from restricted drain lines, or from too many machines draining into narrow pipes. It can also fail because the level reading does not fall, from a blocked level hose, a water drop in it or a defective level control. Staff usually find water standing in the drum and a program that will not move on to the next step. On sites with several machines emptying at once, the message may appear only when more than one drain together.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the W465H-W4300H, W475S-W4330S and W475N-W4330N washer-extractors, Type W3..., with the Compass Control. Building drain size can affect how often the code appears.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

- Blocked drain
- Blocked level hose or water drop in it
- Defective level control
- Restricted drain lines
- Too many machines draining into narrow pipes
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 10 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Lint or small items collected in the drain valve housing
- Foam from detergent slowing the drain and holding the level
- Drain trough or floor drain partly clogged outside the machine
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check whether the floor drain or trough near the machine is backing up.
- Ask whether other machines were draining at the same time.
- Reduce detergent in the next load if suds were visible.
- Note when the message appeared, how many machines ran at once and what the drain looked like, then call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 10
- Read the code and the step at which the drain failed.
- Check the drain installation and drain valve for dirt.
- Blow through the level hose and clear any water drops.
- Check the level control in the service program.
- Review the drain pipe size against the number of machines draining together.
- Level control checks happen in the service program and need the machine's own data.
- The drain valve and its wiring are tested with the machine isolated and covers open.
- Restricted drain lines need a plumber's tools and a view of the whole drain run.
How error code 10 differs from similar codes
Code 10 follows a drain period; code 06 is raised when the drum is not empty at the end of the program.

Is the drain pump the only problem?
No. The manual also lists the level hose, the level control and the building's drain lines.
Why does it happen only on busy days?
Several machines draining at once into narrow pipes can slow the flow enough to trip the check.
Can I pull the water out myself?
Do not open the door while the drum holds water. Use the machine's drain routine or call us.
