W4 Series Models We Repair
The Electrolux Professional machines on our schedule are W4 series, in hardmount versions such as the W465H, W475H, W4105H, W4130H, W4180H, W4240H and W4300H, and softmount versions such as the W475S, W475N, W4330S and W4330N. They use Compass Control with a CPU board, I/O boards and a motor control unit.
Compass Control shows numbered codes from 01 through 10 for fill, door, water level and heating problems. A fill time that runs too long points us to the inlet valves, screens and hoses, which scale up in hard water. Door codes lead us to the lock and its switch. A clogged level hose gives false readings, so we check it before the pressure switch.
Motor Control and Drive Errors
Codes 13 and 20 relate to motor control communication and interlock, and codes 31 to 60 relate to the motor control unit and drive. For those we check the cables, the connectors, the power supply to the drive and the motor. Heat in a laundry room is hard on drive electronics, so we also look at ventilation around the machine.
Parts are confirmed from the model number before we visit. Our quote is in writing, the work has a 30-day workmanship warranty, and we say plainly when an older machine is not worth the repair.

What does the Compass Control display show when something is wrong?
It shows a numbered code. Codes 01 through 10 are fill, door, level and heating problems, and higher numbers relate to the motor control. Give us the number and the model and we plan parts.

Why does my washer say motor control communication error?
The control board cannot communicate with the motor control. A loose connector or cable is our first check, then the power to the drive and the drive itself.
