Electrolux Washer Extractor Error Code 33: No Interlock
Error code 33 means the motor control received a run command although the 230 V interlock input, which confirms the door is closed and locked, is missing. Close the door firmly and try again. If it repeats, a technician should check the interlock signal cable, the door lock connector and the motor control interlock circuit.
High: the motor control will not run the drum without the interlock, so the machine stays down.

- Error code 33, NO INTERLOCK

- Industrial laundry
- Applies to
- Compass Control washer-extractors (CPU board, motor control, DLCU)
What does Electrolux Professional error code 33 mean?
Before the motor may run, the motor control must see 230 V on its interlock input. That voltage appears only when the door is closed and locked. When the timer sends a run command and the interlock input is dead, the motor control refuses to drive the motor and the CPU board shows ERROR 033 / NO INTERLOCK. The manual's tests show where the signal is lost: a technician measures X302:1-2 while the lock is activated, then reads bit 1 of the second byte under Motor Status in the service program, where 1 means lock open. A break in the signal cable, a problem at the door lock connector and a failure in the motor control interlock circuits are the listed causes. Staff see the machine stop at start or in the middle of a program.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the W465H-W4300H, W475S-W4330S and W475N-W4330N washer-extractors, Type W3..., with the Compass Control. The test points named in the manual are X302:1-2 and Motor Status in the service program.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Display shows ERROR 033 / NO INTERLOCK
- Drum does not start although the door is shut
- Machine stops when the program calls for the drum to turn
- Door lock clicks but the cycle stops
Possible causes
Listed in Electrolux Professional's documentation
- Break in the interlock signal cable
- Failure in the door lock connector
- Failure in motor-control interlock circuits
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 33 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Lock switch contact worn so 230 V is not passed through when the lock is activated
- Connector at X302 loose
- Moisture in the lock connector interrupting the signal
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the door, close it firmly and listen for the lock to click.
- Switch the machine off and on and try the program once more.
- Do not try to hold the door against the lock.
- Note whether the lock clicks when you press start, then call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 33
- Read the code and confirm the lock activates when the door is closed.
- Measure the interlock signal on X302:1-2 when the lock is activated.
- Read bit 1 of the second byte under Motor Status in the service program, where 1 means lock open.
- Inspect the signal cable and door lock connector.
- Replace the defective part.
- The interlock input carries 230 V, so measurements must be made by a technician.
- Reading Motor Status needs the service program and an understanding of the bits.
- Defeating an interlock would allow the drum to turn with the door open.
How error code 33 differs from similar codes
Code 33 is raised by the motor control when a run command arrives with no 230 V interlock; code 20 is the CPU board reporting which board lacks the interlock.

Why does the door look closed but the code appears?
The 230 V signal that confirms closed and locked is not reaching the motor control.
Is the lock itself broken?
Maybe. The manual also lists the cable and the motor control interlock circuits.
Is this the same as code 20?
They are related. Code 20 names the board without the interlock, while code 33 comes from the motor control.
