Randell Prep Table Error Code dOr: Open Door Alarm
DOr is the open door alarm on Randell 8000-290 and 9000W-290 prep tables with the Carel controller. Close every door and drawer all the way and check that no pan or box is holding one open. If dOr stays on with everything shut, call us.
Low: an operator alert about a door, and the table keeps cooling while it shows.

What does Randell error code DOr mean?
The Carel controller on a Randell prep table keeps track of whether a door or drawer is open, using a door switch. It also has an alarm delay, which is the time a door may stay open before the control complains. When a door or drawer stays open longer than that delay, the display shows dOr. The table keeps running while it waits, but warm kitchen air is pouring into the cabinet, which pushes up the temperature and loads the coil with moisture. On a busy line the usual reason is a drawer left ajar behind a pan, a door that does not latch, or a worn gasket that lets the door sit slightly open. The maker's list also includes the door switch and its wiring, and the alarm delay setting in the controller. If everything is physically shut and dOr stays on, the switch is telling the controller a door is open when it is not, or the delay has been set shorter than your normal working pattern.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to Randell 8000-290 and 9000W-290 series prep tables with the Carel controller. Danfoss-controlled tables report their alarms with other codes.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- DOr on the display
- An alert that continues after the doors are shut
- Condensation inside the cabinet
- Pans that run warmer after a long open period
Possible causes
Listed in Randell's documentation
- Door or drawer not fully closed and latched
- Gasket worn or poorly seated
- Door switch or its wiring
- Alarm delay set in the controller
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code DOr on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Pan handle or lid edge holding a drawer open a fraction of an inch
- Door switch gummed with spilled syrup or dressing
- Delay setting changed so that normal prep work triggers the alarm
Safe checks before calling for service
- Close every door and drawer all the way.
- Check that nothing, such as a pan or a box, is blocking one open.
- Look at the gasket for tears or gaps.
- If dOr appears with everything shut, note which door or drawer is nearest the control and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code DOr
- Read the code and confirm the Carel controller.
- Open and close each door and drawer while watching the alarm.
- Inspect gaskets for tears and for a good seal.
- Check each door switch and its wiring for continuity and for contamination.
- Review the alarm delay in the controller against normal use.
- Replace the switch or gasket that fails, then confirm dOr clears.
- Door switch wiring runs back to a controller on line-voltage circuits and has to be tested with a meter.
- Changing the alarm delay means entering the controller's parameters, where a wrong value can silence a real warning.
- A worn gasket or a sagging door affects the whole cabinet seal and is easier to judge with the door off its hinges.
How error code DOr differs from similar codes
DOr is the Carel code for an open door. HI, the high temperature alarm, can follow it if the cabinet warms.

Is dOr a serious alarm?
It is a reminder, not a shutdown. The risk is warm air and food temperature, so close the door and check pans.
Why does it show when everything is closed?
The door switch may be reporting open, or the delay may be too short for how you work.
Can a bad gasket cause this?
Yes, a door that cannot seat fully can look open to the switch.
