Randell Prep Table Repair
We repair Randell refrigerated prep tables in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and San Diego, including 8000-290 and 9000W-290 series and the PT-W-L and custom tables. Older tables are welcome, and we find the cause before we quote.
Common Randell problems we fix
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Prep table runs warm
Ice on the coil and noisy fan
High or low temperature alarm
Display shows a sensor code
Table will not cool after loading warm product
Voltage message on the display
Randell Table Lines
Delis, taquerias and school cafeterias use Randell prep tables. The lines we see are the 8000-290 series, where an N in the model means a standard top and a W a wide top with 1/6 pans, the 9000W-290 series with a refrigerated raised rail, the PT-W-L tables and the custom tables. Models run from 48 inches up to 111 inches wide and use R290 refrigerant on a standard 115-volt cord.
Randell Controller Codes
The controller shows short codes. CHt or CON asks you to clean the condenser, dOr points to a door left open, and HI and LO are temperature alarms. E0 and E1 are sensor problems, and uHi and uLi mean the line voltage is too high or too low. We read the code, then the condenser, the gaskets and the airflow. A table loaded with warm product will alarm for a while, so we ask what went in and when.
Kitchen heat matters. A kitchen that stays hot all afternoon pushes a prep table past what it was built for, and the compressor works harder and wears faster. Voltage should stay close to the nameplate rating, so a long extension cord is a problem we look for.
Where the Serial Number Is
The serial number sits behind the hinged vented door of the compressor compartment. R290 is a flammable refrigerant, so we ask owners to leave that compartment to us.
Randell codes and alarms
What the display or the blinking light means, what is safe to check, and when to stop and call us.
Randell lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
What does the CHt code on my Randell mean?
It asks you to check the condenser. Dust and grease block airflow and push the head temperature up. Clean the condenser surface if you can reach it safely, and call us if the code returns.
My Randell has ice on the coil. What should I do?
Start a manual defrost from the controller, as the owner's manual describes, and keep the door shut. If ice returns, we look at the defrost parts and the door seal.
Can I load warm product into a Randell prep table?
Pre-chill it to cold first. A prep table keeps food cold but cannot cool a warm tub quickly, and warm product trips the high temperature alarm and loads the compressor.
