Repairs this series usually needs
- Frost build-up
- Warm freezer from a clogged base condenser
- Door gasket wear
- Defrost problems
- Lo or Hi alarms
The Horizon HBF is the newer-style bottom-mount freezer from Beverage-Air, with 22 numbers such as HBF12HC-1, HBF12HC-1-G and HBF19HC-1. A G at the end marks a glass door.
When an HBF struggles, we check the door seal, since a freezer is unforgiving of leaks, then the defrost, the condenser and the fans. A glass-door version adds a heater and a seal to the checks. The Lo alarm means the cabinet air fell below its limit, which can mean a sensor problem, and we test the sensor.
We replace gaskets, fans and sensors on this line regularly, and confirm the part numbers first. A freezer that has been warm should be judged by the food, not the display, and we check product temperature after the repair.

It means the cabinet air fell below its low alarm limit. We check the set point and the sensor. We check the set point first, then the sensor reading against a thermometer, before we decide it is a real cooling problem.
Why does my glass-door freezer sweat?
The door heater may not be working or the gasket may leak. We test both. We test the heater and the seal, then fix whichever is the cause.
Are HBF and FB the same?
No. They are different lines with their own parts, so we use the plate number. They are separate lines, so we read the plate to pick the right gasket, heater and control, and we confirm each part before the visit.
