- X13-PLUS
- X13A-PLUS
Repairs this series usually needs
- Blade that does not turn from the motor or switch
- Uneven slices from a dull knife or gauge plate
- Carriage drag
- Automatic stroke that fails on the X13A-PLUS
- Motor overload
The Berkel X13-PLUS Premier series has a 13 inch hardened stainless knife and a one-half horsepower motor. The X13-PLUS is manual and the X13A-PLUS is automatic.
Always unplug the slicer before cleaning and never reach past the guards. If the blade will not turn, we look at the motor and the switch. A dull knife or a gauge plate that has drifted causes uneven slices, and a carriage that drags usually needs cleaning or new bushings. On the automatic model we check the stroke drive.
The X13 family has been in delis for a long time, and many units are still sharp and reliable. We give a written price first, and we tell you honestly if a carriage, motor or knife repair would cost more than it is worth.

The A marks the automatic model, and the X13-PLUS is manual. Both have the same 13 inch stainless knife and one-half horsepower motor, so most checks carry over.
Why do my slices come out uneven?
A dull knife or a gauge plate that has drifted is the usual cause, and we sharpen or replace the knife and adjust the plate.
Is the X13A-PLUS stroke repairable on site?
Often yes. The stroke depends on a drive, a switch and a linkage, and we can test all three on site. We tell you before we start if a part has to be ordered.
