Repairs this series usually needs
- One pocket that does not heat
- Long drying times from a restricted vent
- Thermistor error on one pocket
- Drum belt or motor problem
- Coin drop that rejects coins
SSEL and SSGL are the stacked versions in the Speed Queen dryer family, nine numbers such as SSELCFGS171TW01 and SSGLCFGS111TW01. Two dryers sit in one cabinet, each with its own pocket and control, so the problem is usually on only one of them.
We start by finding which pocket is failing, then compare it with the other. If one pocket dries slowly while the other is fine, the cause is usually in that pocket, such as a lint screen, heat sensing or a belt. If both are slow, the shared exhaust is the first suspect. Drum problems lead to the belt and motor, and coin errors lead to the coin drop.
Stacked dryers save floor space laundry rooms, and the older ones are still working. Call us or use the online form to schedule service. You see the cost on paper first, and a worn-out stack is called what it is.

Speed Queen dryers codes
Why does only the top dryer heat poorly?
The problem is likely specific to that pocket, such as its sensor, burner or element. We test it against the lower pocket and repair what is different.
What if both dryers dry slowly?
Look at the shared exhaust first. Lint in the duct or a stuck weather hood slows both dryers at once. We check airflow at the machine and at the vent before replacing any parts.
Can you repair a stacked dryer with a coin drop?
Yes. We test the coin drop and the control for each pocket, because the two dryers have their own controls and often only one pocket has the problem. Comparing the two pockets quickly shows us where to look.
