Glastender Coolers and Set Points

Older Glastender BB, ND and KC self-contained back bar coolers, built from 2009 through 2017, are still common, along with BW, BR and WR two-zone coolers. They use R134a, a 115 volt supply and a Dixell digital thermostat. They defrost automatically four times a day for about 20 minutes, which is normal. Current C-series equipment includes remote back bar coolers, side-serviced and front-serviced coolers and frosters, mug frosters, slide-top units, high profile units, cocktail prep coolers and freezers.

Factory set points are 34 degrees F for a standard cooler, 50 for white wine and 60 for red wine, adjustable from 33 to 65. Draft beer units need an external drain for condensate and ice melt, and a blocked drain is a common service call. The controller has no OFF function, so the unit must be unplugged or switched off at the breaker.

What We Check

A P1 code means the thermostat probe is not reading properly, often because of a loose probe wire. We check the probe first, then the condenser, which gets coated with dust and spilled drinks in a bar. In a tight installation a cooler cannot breathe, and hot weather makes that worse. After that we test compressor cycling, defrost, the drain and the door gaskets.

We tell you plainly when an older cooler is not worth fixing. The price is given in writing first, and our workmanship is warranted for 30 days.

FAQGlastender questions
What does P1 mean on my Glastender?

P1 is the thermostat probe code. The probe wire may be loose or the probe may not be reading. We check the wire, the connection and the controller before replacing parts.

Is it normal for my Glastender to defrost during service?

Yes. The older BB, ND and KC coolers defrost automatically four times a day for about 20 minutes. That is normal. If it ices up or stays warm, call us.

How do I turn off a Glastender cooler?

The controller has no OFF function. You turn the cooler off by unplugging it or switching its breaker. Do that before cleaning, and call us if the cooler will not restart.
