First Checks
A grinder that will not start sends us to the head and pan interlock first, since the machine will not turn unless they are seated, and then to the switch and the starter. Smeared or mushy meat is nearly always a dull knife or a plate that is no longer flat. When the overload trips on cold, tough product, we look at the knife, the plate and the load, because a dull knife makes the motor work much harder.
Gear case noise or an oil leak tells us the gear case needs attention, and on an auto-feed model a stalled auger leads us to the feed drive. Meat rooms are wet and cold, with daily washdowns, so seals and bearings wear in time and switches pick up moisture.
Mixer grinders add a second drive for the mixing paddle, so we test the mixing side and the grinding side separately. Before the visit we settle on parts, and before the repair we settle on a written price. We say plainly when an older grinder is not worth repairing, and every repair carries a 30-day warranty.
Biro lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
Why does my Biro grinder smear the meat?
A dull knife or a plate that is no longer flat is the usual cause. We check both and the ring tightness, and give you a written price before replacing a part.
Do you repair Biro auto-feed mixer grinders?
Yes. We service the Mini and AFMG models and check the mixing drive, the auger and the grinding head separately, so you pay only for what is needed.
My Biro grinder will not start. What do you check?
The head and pan interlock first, then the switch, the starter and the overload. We test all of those before looking at the motor, and we give you a written price first.
