Common Blakeslee mixers problems

In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.

01

Bowl lift will not hold or move

02

Gear noise or grease leak

03

Belt slipping

04

Motor overload trips

05

Mixer will not start

Blakeslee’s floor planetary mixers come in 20, 40 and 60 quart sizes as the F-20, DD-40 and DD-60. The B-20 bench mixers, including the B-20-SS, B-20-CA, B-20-CS and B-20-D, hold 20 quarts. These are mechanical machines without display codes, so we diagnose them by sound, movement and testing.

The bowl lift is the part that gets abused. A bowl that will not lift or hold its height points us to the lift mechanism and its linkage. A belt that slips shows up as an attachment turning slowly under a load, and we check belt tension and wear. A motor that trips its overload may be fighting a heavy dough, a worn belt or a failing bearing. Grease leaking from the gear case means a seal needs attention, and we check the gear oil level and the gears before they are damaged.

Bakeries and kitchens put long hours on these mixers. We confirm the model first, tell you honestly if an older mixer is not worth repairing, and back the repair with a 30-day warranty on our work.

FAQBlakeslee mixers questions
Why does my Blakeslee mixer keep tripping its overload?

A heavy dough load, a worn belt or a motor or bearing problem can all trip the overload. Let the motor cool and reduce the load. If it trips again, call us and we test the motor and drive.

Why is grease leaking from my Blakeslee mixer?

Grease leaking from the gear case means a seal has worn. Wipe it up, keep it off the floor and call us. We check the seal, the gear oil and the gears before they are damaged.

Do you repair the Blakeslee B-20 bench mixer?

Yes. We repair the B-20-SS, B-20-CA, B-20-CS and B-20-D bench mixers along with the F-20, DD-40 and DD-60 floor models. Tell us the model and the problem and we plan the visit.
