Jackson Glasswasher Error Code F4: Check Incoming Power

F4 on a Jackson Delta HT-E-SEER glasswasher means the control detected a problem with the incoming power supply to the booster heater circuit. The manual lists incoming power not properly connected, or L3 missing on three-phase machines.

Medium · inspection needed

High: the booster heater cannot work properly without a complete supply.

What does Jackson error code F4 mean?

The booster heater in a glasswasher pulls heavy current, and the control checks that its supply is intact. If something is wrong with it, the screen shows "F4 Service needed" with "Check incoming power". The manual lists two causes: incoming power that is not properly connected, or a missing L3, which applies to three-phase machines only. The actions are to check the connections to the heater and to verify L3 is present and connected properly. In a bar or restaurant, a three-phase glasswasher is usually wired by an electrician when it is installed, so a code like this often appears after electrical work in the building, a tripped breaker or a moved machine. The same table has F9 with the same wording for the wash heater circuit. The manual gives no voltage figures and no operator reset.

What you may notice

  • Display reads F4 Service needed, Check incoming power
  • Rinse water that stays cool
  • A breaker that has tripped at the panel

Possible causes

Listed in Jackson's documentation

  • Incoming power not properly connected
  • L3 missing on three-phase machines

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code F4 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Electrical work in the building that left one leg disconnected
  • A breaker pole that tripped under load
  • A terminal at the heater that heat has loosened

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Check the breaker panel and the disconnect near the machine; both should be fully on.
  2. Do not open the machine to look at the heater wiring.
  3. Turn the glasswasher off and on once to see whether F4 returns.
  4. Tell the technician if any electrical work was done recently and whether the machine is three-phase.

How a technician diagnoses error code F4

  1. Confirm F4 and read the electrical rating from the data plate.
  2. Lock out the machine and inspect the booster heater connections for tightness and heat damage.
  3. Verify L3 is present and connected on a three-phase supply.
  4. Measure each leg under load, using proper safety equipment.
  5. Correct the connection and confirm the booster heats on a full cycle.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The supply is 208-240 V or three-phase, a serious shock hazard.
  • A missing leg can be mistaken for a bad heater unless measured.
  • Heater terminals are inside the cabinet and need the supply locked out.

How error code F4 differs from similar codes

F4 is the booster supply check. F9 is its twin for the wash heater, with the same causes.

F4Questions about Jackson error code F4
What if the glasswasher is single-phase?

The manual's missing-L3 cause applies to three-phase machines only. A single-phase machine would still need its connections checked.

Can I use it with F4 showing?

The booster may not heat, so the final rinse may not be hot enough.

Why would F4 appear after electrical work?

Because a leg or terminal may have been left loose or disconnected.
