What does Eversys error code S-101 mean?
S-101 is an instruction on the Eversys Cameo. The screen reads "Please switch off the machine," and the e'Support table explains when it appears: the message occurs if the steam boiler has been emptied or depressurized, and the coffee machine then has to be switched off at the main switch. So the control does not carry on after the boiler has been emptied or depressurized; it asks for a full power-off first. This follows S-102 and S-103, which are shown while the steam boiler is being emptied or depressurized. The table lists no causes and no timing. It does not say how long to leave the machine off or what happens when it is switched back on, and we do not guess either. What it does state is that the action is the main switch. After switching off and back on, the machine goes through its start-up, which is where messages like S-106 (initializing) and S-105 (rinse necessary) can follow.
Affected models and control systems
Eversys Cameo range (Cameo/Core, Classic, ST and in-box versions). The message is listed in Eversys' e'Support table of operator stop messages for Cameo, and the table gives no board revision or model limit.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- The screen shows "Please switch off the machine."
- The steam boiler has just been emptied or depressurized
- Drinks are not available until the machine is restarted
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code S-101 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Steam boiler was emptied
- Steam boiler was depressurized
- Someone started a boiler empty or depressurize routine and then forgot to power the machine off
- A shut-down for transport, cleaning or descaling left the boiler empty and the prompt is simply the end of that routine
- The machine was switched back on without waiting through the full routine, so it shows the prompt again
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the machine off at the main switch.
- Wait a few moments, then switch it on again and watch the start-up messages.
- Do not open the machine; the boiler may still be hot.
- Note whether S-101 was preceded by the empty or depressurize messages, and whether it returns.
How a technician diagnoses error code S-101
- Confirm S-101 against the Cameo table and check whether the boiler was emptied on purpose.
- Ask what routine was run before the message.
- Power the machine off and on and follow the start-up messages through.
- Check the boiler fill and level behavior after restart.
- Check for leaks or pressure loss if the boiler empties without being asked.
- A steam boiler holds hot water and pressure, which causes scalds if opened carelessly.
- Boiler level and pressure parts connect to mains-powered controls behind the panels.
- An unexplained boiler emptying points to a leak or valve that needs testing by someone trained.
How error code S-101 differs from similar codes
S-101 is the end of the boiler empty routine that S-102 and S-103 show. S-102 means the boiler is being emptied, S-103 that it is being depressurized, and S-101 asks you to power off afterward.
