What does Merrychef error code E079 mean?
The touch screen should register a brief touch. If pressure stays on it, the screen cannot tell a real press from a stuck one. At over 5 seconds the oven begins warning, and when the pressure lasts more than 5 seconds but under 15 seconds, the oven records E079: TOUCH PREWARNING RELEASE (constant key press). Something is pressing on the screen or the screen overlay is behaving as if it were pressed: a cloth or pan resting on it, food residue, a bent overlay, or a damaged touch layer. The manual's action is to check the touch screen overlay and to look at E087. Because the oven uses the screen to start and stop cooking, a screen that thinks a key is held down can interrupt normal use.
