Convotherm Combi Oven Error Code E05.x: No Gas
E05.x on the older Convotherm OES, OEB, OGS and OGB ovens means no gas. Open the gas tap, let the gas pipe fill by starting 2x convection, and if the code stays, contact customer service.
High: a gas oven cannot heat without gas, and gas problems need safe handling.

What does Convotherm error code E05.x mean?
A gas-fired combi oven only heats while gas reaches the burner, and the control checks that the burner lights after a call for heat. When gas does not arrive, the control stops the attempt and shows E05.x No gas. The manual gives three steps: open the gas tap, let the gas pipe fill by starting 2x convection, and contact customer service. The second step is specific. If the tap was shut and the pipe emptied, the first attempt after opening it can fail while air is pushed out of the line, so starting the convection function twice lets the pipe fill. The code is only meaningful on the gas-fired versions of the line, the OGS and OGB. When the tap is open and repeated tries do not light the burner, the cause is farther along, in the supply, a valve or the ignition.
Affected models and control systems
Convotherm OES, OEB, OGS and OGB combi ovens (the older, pre-C4 line), from that line's user manual, an English translation of the original edition. It does not state a revision number. Only the gas-fired versions can report a gas shortage.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E05.x on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Gas tap shut after cleaning or maintenance
- Air still in the gas pipe after the tap was closed
- Building gas supply interrupted
- Gas valve in the oven not opening
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the gas tap for the oven.
- If you smell gas, leave the area, avoid switches, and call the gas utility.
- Start 2x convection, as the manual directs, to let the gas pipe fill.
- If E05.x still appears, stop and contact customer service.
- Note whether other gas appliances on the line work.
How a technician diagnoses error code E05.x
- Read E05.x and the history.
- Verify the gas tap, supply pressure and manifold pressure.
- Check the pipe and regulator for restriction.
- Test the gas valve for coil voltage and operation.
- Check ignition and flame sensing.
- Leak-test every gas joint touched.
- Gas piping and valves are regulated work with leak and fire risk.
- The ignition circuit runs at line voltage and is tested live.
- Purging air and relighting needs training.
How error code E05.x differs from similar codes
C4 ovens show a similar message, E05, with a different manual step: open the gas shut-off and restart.
