What does Alto-Shaam error code E46 mean?
Each sensing point of the multipoint core probe B10 is read on its own line. When the control finds the first sensing point shorted to ground, it posts E46 B10 - Point 1 Fault. This is not the same as E26, where point 1 is open or defective. A short means the line is touching ground somewhere between the control and the sensor, for example in the probe itself, its cable, or the plug. The manual names one cause, a miswired or malfunctioning probe. Pressing Start acknowledges the message and the oven then tries to return to normal operation, but the short stays until the probe or cable is repaired. Because other sensing points may still read normally, this message helps a technician target the exact line to test rather than replace the whole assembly without checking.
Affected models and control systems

How a technician diagnoses error code E46
- Read the code and see whether E47 or E48 are in the history.
- Inspect the probe, cable and plug.
- Measure the point 1 line to ground with the probe disconnected.
- Compare with the probe chart at known temperature.
- Replace B10 when the short is in the probe.
- Each line is tested with a meter and the probe disconnected.
- The oven receptacle is wired to a live control board.
- A wrong probe reading can leave food undercooked.
How error code E46 differs from similar codes
E26 reports point 1 defective or disconnected; E46 reports it shorted. E47 and E48 are the same short at points 2 and 3.
