Alto-Shaam Combi Oven Error Code E92: Control Board Not Responding
E92 Communication Error, CB does not properly respond means the control board is not answering the interface board. Turn the oven off, disconnect power, reconnect and restart it. If E92 returns, a technician should check the CAN cable and the board connectors.

What does Alto-Shaam error code E92 mean?
The oven's electronics are split across several boards: the control board, the interface board, the relay board and the display board. They exchange messages on a CAN cable, and the interface board expects the control board to answer. If the control board fails to respond, the interface board posts E92 Communication Error, CB does not properly respond. The manual's remedy is a restart: turn the oven off, disconnect power, reconnect it and start again. A brief glitch clears this way. If E92 returns, the manual lists three causes: a CAN cable malfunction, a defective relay board low voltage connector, or a defective display board connector. All three are links in the chain that carries the messages. The CT Express manual lists E92 as a ribbon cable communication error between display and relay board, so the same number there points to a different cable.
Affected models and control systems
CT PROformance and CT Classic ovens, electric and gas, sizes 6-10 to 20-20. The CT Express manual words E92 as a ribbon cable error.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

- Try a simple program to see whether the controls respond.
- If E92 returns, note how soon after start-up it appears and call.
How a technician diagnoses error code E92
- Read the code and confirm the restart was already tried.
- Check the CAN cable between the control board and interface board for damage and seating.
- Inspect the relay board low voltage connector and display board connector.
- Check supply voltage and grounding for the control electronics.
- Replace a cable or board only after reseating and testing.
- The boards and connectors are behind the control panel with live low and line voltage.
- Static damage to boards is easy to cause.
- Replaced boards must be matched to the oven's software and settings.
How error code E92 differs from similar codes
E93 and E94 are other messages on the same CAN link: E93 means different running states, E94 means no signal for 20 seconds from the interface board side.
