Alto-Shaam Combi Oven Error Code E211: VFD Over Voltage
E211 VFD Over Voltage means the table-top or upper fan drive reports an over-voltage condition. Press the Start icon to acknowledge it and have a technician check the drive and its LED blink code.
High: the drive reports an over-voltage condition and may stop the fan.

What does Alto-Shaam error code E211 mean?
The drive that runs the convection fan monitors the voltage it receives and also the voltage inside its own circuit. If the reading rises above its limit, the drive reports over voltage and the control posts E211 VFD Over Voltage. The manual lists one possible cause, a VFD malfunction, and refers to the blink code on the drive's LED. Over voltage can come from the supply being too high, or from the drive slowing a motor quickly so that energy flows back into the drive, though the manual does not go into either. Pressing Start acknowledges the message and the oven then tries to return to normal operation, but the drive repeats the check on the next run. It is the mirror of E210, which reports low voltage, and it names the table-top or upper drive, not the lower one.
Affected models and control systems
Combitherm CT PROformance and CT Classic combi ovens, 6-10, 10-10, 7-20, 10-20, 20-10 and 20-20. The number is used by the table-top or upper fan drive, while the lower drive of a roll-in reports through the E220 series.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E211 VFD Over Voltage on the display
- Fan stopping when it changes speed or direction
- Code appearing at power-up
Possible causes
Listed in Alto-Shaam's documentation
- Possible VFD malfunction
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E211 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Supply voltage running above rating because of a utility or transformer tap setting
- A drive that has lost the ability to absorb the energy when the fan slows
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press the Start icon once to acknowledge E211.
- Note whether the code appears on start-up or when the fan changes speed.
- Do not open the control cover.
- Tell the technician what voltage the building supplies, if you know.
How a technician diagnoses error code E211
- Read the code and note when it appears.
- Measure the supply voltage at the oven and compare with the rating plate.
- Check supply connections for a wrong tap or wiring.
- Read the drive LED blink code.
- Replace the VFD once supply voltage is confirmed normal.
- Supply voltage is measured on live lines.
- Over voltage can damage electronics.
- A drive's internal checks need a service tool.
How error code E211 differs from similar codes
E210 reports under voltage and E211 over voltage on the same table-top or upper drive.

Does E211 mean the power is too high?
It may, but the manual lists only a possible drive malfunction.
Is it the same as E210?
No, E210 is under voltage.
Can I keep running?
Pressing Start allows the oven to try, but a repeat means service.
