Alto-Shaam Combi Oven Error Code E215: VFD EEPROM Error
E215 VFD EEPROM Error means the table-top or upper fan drive reports an EEPROM error. Press the Start icon to acknowledge it, and have a technician read the drive's LED blink code.
High: a drive that cannot trust its settings may not run the fan.

What does Alto-Shaam error code E215 mean?
A variable frequency drive keeps its settings, such as motor data and limits, in a small memory chip called an EEPROM. When the drive starts, it reads that memory and checks it. If the stored data cannot be read or fails its check, the drive reports an EEPROM error, and the control posts E215 VFD EEPROM Error. The manual lists a single possible cause, a VFD malfunction, and says the blink code on the drive's LED also applies. Unlike E210 to E214, this is not about the supply or the motor load. It concerns the drive's own memory, so a clean supply and a free-turning fan do not rule it out. Pressing Start acknowledges the message and the oven then tries to return to normal operation, but a drive that cannot trust its settings will report the error again at the next start. E215 names the table-top or upper drive.
Affected models and control systems
CT PROformance and CT Classic ovens in sizes 6-10 up to 20-20, electric and gas. A roll-in's lower drive uses the E220 series instead.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E215 VFD EEPROM Error on the display
- Fan not starting after power-up
- Code returning at every start
Possible causes
Listed in Alto-Shaam's documentation
- Possible VFD malfunction
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E215 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A voltage spike or brownout that corrupted the drive's stored settings
- A drive memory chip wearing out after years of service
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press the Start icon once to acknowledge E215.
- Switch the oven off at the breaker, wait a minute, and switch it on again.
- Try a short program to see whether the fan starts.
- If E215 returns, note how long the oven has been in service and any recent power events.
How a technician diagnoses error code E215
- Read the code and the drive LED blink code.
- Check supply voltage and grounding to the drive.
- Power-cycle the drive and see whether the error is persistent.
- Reload or reset the drive settings if the oven's service procedure allows.
- Replace the VFD when the memory error remains.
- The drive holds a charge and runs on live 208-240 V.
- Reloading settings needs the oven's service tools and values.
- A new drive has to be set up for the right motor.
How error code E215 differs from similar codes
E210 to E214 report supply and load conditions; E215 reports a memory problem inside the drive. The lower-drive version is E225.

Does E215 mean a bad fan motor?
No, it concerns the drive's own memory.
Will restarting help?
It may for a one-time glitch, but a repeat points to the drive.
Is the lower fan affected?
The lower drive has a separate code.
