Alto-Shaam Combi Oven Error Code E108: Cooling Fan Warning
E108 Cooling Fan Failure means the control (relay) board temperature is between 140 F (60 C) and 176 F (80 C). Check the cooling fan and its air intake, and call for service if the message returns.
Low: an early warning; the oven keeps running while the board is under 176 F (80 C).

What does Alto-Shaam error code E108 mean?
This is the early-warning step for board overheating. The relay board has a temperature sensor, and the control compares it against two levels. When the reading sits between 140 F (60 C) and 176 F (80 C), the control posts E108 Cooling Fan Failure. Once it passes 176 F (80 C), E02 Control Temperature High takes over. So E108 is the board getting warmer than it should, and E02 is the board being too hot. The manual lists two causes, a cooling fan that is not working and a cooling fan air intake that is blocked. Both reduce the air passing over the board. The practical value of E108 is that it comes before E02, giving time to clear a blocked intake or call for a fan before the oven shuts down. If the fan runs and the intake is clean, a technician looks at the board and its sensor.
Affected models and control systems
Six sizes of CTP and CTC combi oven, 6-10 to 20-20, electric and gas, which cool their relay board with a fan.

What you may notice
- E108 Cooling Fan Failure on the display
- Warm air at the control area vents
- Code appearing after long hot service
Possible causes
Listed in Alto-Shaam's documentation
- Cooling fan malfunction
- Cooling fan air intake blocked
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E108 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Lint or grease built up on the intake screen from a busy cooking line
- Ambient kitchen heat so high that the incoming cooling air is already warm
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look at the oven's air intake and vents and clear any visible lint or boxes.
- Check that the oven has the clearance the installation guide asks for.
- Let the oven rest if it has run for a long time without a break.
- If E108 returns, tell the technician how long the oven had been running and whether E02 ever appeared.
How a technician diagnoses error code E108
- Read the code and history for E02.
- Check that the cooling fan runs and measure its supply.
- Inspect and clear the air intake path.
- Take a board temperature reading in operation.
- Replace the fan if weak, and test the sensor circuit if the board runs warm with good airflow.
- The fan and board are behind the panel with live voltage.
- Board temperature must be read while the oven is running.
- Continued overheating can damage the control board.
How error code E108 differs from similar codes
E02 is the stronger warning at 176 F (80 C); E108 covers 140 F (60 C) to 176 F (80 C).
