Alto-Shaam Combi Oven Error Code E22: B10 Multipoint Probe Failure
E22 B10 Core Temperature Probe Multi-point Fault means the multipoint core probe, B10, is defective or disconnected. Press the Start icon to acknowledge it, and check that the probe is plugged in before calling.
Low: only core-temperature cooking is affected, and time-based cooking can continue.

What does Alto-Shaam error code E22 mean?
The multipoint core probe, B10, has several sensing points along its length so the control can read the temperature of the food at more than one depth. The control checks the whole probe, and if it finds it open, shorted or absent, it posts E22 B10 Core Temperature Probe Multi-point Fault. This general message differs from E26 to E29, which name an individual sensing point of the same probe. The manual lists two causes: the B10 probe has failed, or its wires are disconnected. In practice, the first question is whether the probe is firmly plugged into its receptacle. Pressing Start acknowledges the message and the oven tries to return to normal operation, but a program that cooks to a multipoint core temperature has nothing to measure until the signal comes back. Time-based programs do not use the probe and are not affected by this message.
Affected models and control systems
Combitherm CTP and CTC series, 6-10 through 20-20, electric or gas, when fitted with the multipoint core probe. E22 also appears in the CT Express manual.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E22 B10 core probe message on the display
- Core-temperature program not available
- Probe readings missing from the screen
Possible causes
Listed in Alto-Shaam's documentation
- B10 probe malfunction
- B10 wires disconnected
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E22 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A damaged probe cable where it exits the oven door or is bent against a hot rack
- Grease on the probe plug preventing contact in the receptacle
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press the Start icon once to acknowledge E22.
- Check that the multipoint probe is plugged all the way in and the cable is not trapped.
- Wipe the plug with a dry cloth when the oven is cool.
- If E22 returns, cook by time and tell the technician whether single sensing-point messages also appeared.
How a technician diagnoses error code E22
- Read the code and note whether any E26 to E29 messages appear too.
- Inspect the probe, cable and receptacle for damage or residue.
- Reseat the probe and retest.
- Check continuity of the probe and the oven wiring to the control with a meter.
- Replace the probe only after the wiring and receptacle are shown to be good.
- The probe wiring terminates on the control board behind the panel.
- Finding which of several sensing points has failed needs a meter and the probe's wiring table.
- Food-safety readings depend on this probe, so a doubtful one has to be verified rather than guessed.
How error code E22 differs from similar codes
E26, E27, E28 and E29 each name one sensing point of B10; E22 is the general multipoint probe message.

Is E22 the same as E26?
No. E26 names sensing point 1 of the same probe; E22 refers to the probe as a whole.
Can I cook without B10?
Yes, by time or with the single-point probe if the program allows it.
Do I need a new probe?
Only if reseating and cleaning does not clear it; the cable and receptacle are also possible.
