What does Baxter LOC OUT mean?
Kosher operation has a rule built into the control: once the oven is running in kosher mode, its temperature should not fall below a set level. If it falls below 150 F, the control locks out and displays LOC OUT. In lockout the unit will not operate. The lockout cannot be cleared from the operator's keypad. The manual says that someone from service must be contacted to restart the oven, and for the OV310 it names the local Bakery Systems service office. The control reaches this point in two ways. Before the lockout, a rapid beep warns that the temperature is at risk of dropping out of the approved range. If nothing is done, the oven eventually crosses 150 F and locks. The cause is generally an event that lets heat fall away, such as a door left open, an active vent or a burner that is not firing.
Affected models and control systems
Baxter OV500G1-EE and OV500G2-EE kosher package ovens, and OV310E and OV310G ovens, which show the same message.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

- Earlier rapid beeping before the lockout
Possible causes
Listed in Baxter's documentation
- Oven temperature fell below 150 F in kosher mode
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind LOC OUT on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Door left open for a long time
- Vent left active, pulling heat from the chamber
- Burner not firing on a gas oven
- Power loss long enough for the oven to cool
Safe checks before calling for service
- Close the door and make sure the vent is off.
- Do not try to bypass the lockout from the keypad.
- Write down what was happening before the lockout.
- Contact the service office and give the model.
How a technician diagnoses LOC OUT
- Read the display and confirm LOC OUT.
- Ask what preceded the lockout.
- Check the burner, vent and door operation.
- Restart the oven using the maker's service procedure.
- Verify normal heating and that the rapid-beep warning works.
- Restarting from kosher lockout is a controlled service action, not an operator feature.
- Checking the burner and controls involves gas and live circuits.
How LOC OUT differs from similar codes
LOC OUT is the actual lockout; the rapid beep is the earlier warning that the kosher temperature is at risk.
