What does BUNN NIGHT MODE mean?
Night mode is a setting that warms the product during the overnight hours so that it is not frozen all night. The control shows NIGHT MODE while this is happening, and at the programmed time it goes back to freeze mode by itself. The Use and Care Guide's table says nothing needs to be done, and to change the setting you see the Operating and Service Manual. The guide lists no causes, as it is not an error. If the morning product is soft, it may be that the machine has not finished freezing after the thaw. Giving it time to return to its normal texture before the first serve is sensible. If NIGHT MODE shows at the wrong hours, the schedule in the control is the thing to review. Staff sometimes read the word on the display as a problem, so a short note near the machine helps. Because the first drinks after NIGHT MODE may be softer than usual, many sites switch the machine back to freeze early on busy days; the Operating and Service Manual explains the setting.

Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind NIGHT MODE on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Overnight thaw schedule is active
- Programmed time not matching the shop's opening hours
- Clock on the control off by an hour
- Mode left on after a schedule change
Safe checks before calling for service
- Leave the machine alone while NIGHT MODE shows.
- Check the display in the morning to see that it has returned to freeze.
- Allow time for the product to firm up before serving.
- If the schedule is wrong, ask the person who manages the settings to change it.
How a technician diagnoses NIGHT MODE
- Confirm the display and the programmed schedule.
- Check the control clock.
- Observe the return to freeze mode.
- Adjust the schedule per the Operating and Service Manual.
- Check the product texture at the start of service.
- Control settings affect when the machine freezes.
- The clock and schedule are part of the setup.
- Changes should be made by someone who knows the settings.
How NIGHT MODE differs from similar codes
NIGHT MODE is a normal schedule message. DEFROST is a defrost cycle message. Staff who open the shop should know the word on the display is normal, so nobody calls for service on a healthy machine.
