Cissell OPL Dryer Error Code E rot: Rotation Sensor
E rot means the rotation sensor is not reporting drum movement, and the control wants proof the basket is turning before it keeps the heat on. Switch the dryer off, check whether the load is too heavy, and with power off feel the empty drum for stiffness. Do not reach behind panels.
Medium: the dryer stops until the drum rotation is proven.
What does Cissell error code E rot mean?
A Cissell OPL control dryer, such as the CT030N, checks that the drum really turns. A rotation sensor reports the movement of the basket, and the control uses that signal to decide if it is safe to keep heating. If the sensor signal is missing, the control stops the cycle and shows E rot. Staff may find a drum that is stuck, turning slowly or turning normally while the sensor reports nothing. Both mechanical and electrical causes fit. On the mechanical side are broken or worn drive belts, an overloaded drum that cannot turn freely and worn bearings or drive parts. On the electrical side are the sensor itself and its wiring. A drum that spins freely by hand with the power off points to the sensor circuit. A drum that is stiff or slips points to the belts and bearings. Telling the technician which of these you saw, along with the load size, shortens the visit.
Affected models and control systems
This page covers the Cissell OPL electronic control tumble dryers, 25 to 35 lb C-prefix models such as the CT030N.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E rot appears and the dryer stops
- Drum does not turn, or turns slowly with a squeal
- Drum turns normally but the cycle still stops
Possible causes
Listed in Cissell's documentation
- Broken or worn drive belts
- An overloaded drum that cannot turn freely
- A failed rotation sensor or damaged wiring
- Worn drum bearings or drive parts
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E rot on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A belt that has stretched and slips under a wet load, so the basket turns too slowly to register
- A sensor magnet or target that has come loose from the drum drive
- Bearings that are dry from heat, which makes the drum stiff when it starts
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the dryer off at the disconnect.
- Check whether the load is too heavy. If so, remove part of it after the drum cools.
- With power off, try turning the empty drum by hand a little to feel for stiffness. Never reach behind panels.
- If E rot returns, note whether the drum was turning and what the load was, and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code E rot
- Read the code and ask whether the drum was turning when it stopped.
- Inspect the drive belts for wear, glazing and tension.
- Spin the drum by hand with power locked off and feel for bearing noise.
- Check the rotation sensor, its target and its wiring.
- Replace the belt, bearing or sensor only after the test shows which one has failed.
- Belts and bearings are behind panels, near moving parts and line-voltage wiring.
- A worn drive also loads the motor, so it needs checking along with the belt.
- Telling a sensor failure from a mechanical one takes tools and a meter.

Related Cissell dryer error codes
Can I keep drying with E rot on?
No. The control stops because it cannot confirm the drum is turning.
Could an overloaded drum cause E rot?
Yes. A load that is too heavy can stall the drum or make a belt slip.
What if the drum turns fine by hand?
Then the sensor or its wiring is more likely, and a technician should test it.
Need help with Cissell error code E rot?
A technician confirms the cause on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
