Cissell OPL Dryer Error Code ESEtUP: Setup Mismatch
ESEtUP appears when the DIP switch settings or size configuration do not match what the control expects, so it refuses to run. This often follows a control swap or a change to the switch settings. Do not change any DIP switches yourself.
Low: a setup mismatch; the dryer will not run until it is corrected, but nothing has failed.
What does Cissell error code ESEtUP mean?
A Cissell OPL control has to know what kind of dryer it is part of: its size, its heating type and the temperature index of the hardware. It learns this from DIP switch positions on the control and from a temperature index harness connection. At power up the control checks that the settings agree with each other and with the dryer. If they do not, for example a switch set for a different size or a harness that does not match, the control will not run and shows ESEtUP. The dryer is not broken, it just does not know what it is. This is why the code often follows a control swap or a change to the switch settings, rather than a heating problem. The manual points to the DIP switch positions, the temperature index harness connection, whether the control matches the dryer size, and recent control or wiring changes. A technician sets them against the data plate.
Affected models and control systems
This page covers the Cissell OPL electronic control tumble dryers, 25 to 35 lb C-prefix models such as the CT030N.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- ESEtUP appears at power up and the dryer will not run
- The message started right after service or a new control
- The dryer ran normally until a recent change
Possible causes
Listed in Cissell's documentation
- DIP switch positions that do not match the dryer
- A temperature index harness connection that is wrong or loose
- A control that does not match the dryer size
- A recent control or wiring change
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code ESEtUP on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A replacement control shipped with factory switch settings that do not suit this dryer's size
- A temperature index harness plugged into the wrong header after a repair
- A switch bumped out of position when a panel was cleaned or the control was handled
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the dryer off and write down what was changed before the message appeared.
- Do not change any DIP switches yourself.
- Switch power back on once to see if the message clears.
- Call us to schedule service if ESEtUP stays, and tell us whether the control was recently replaced.
How a technician diagnoses error code ESEtUP
- Read the code and ask what work was done on the dryer recently.
- Compare the DIP switch positions with the data plate and the wiring diagram.
- Check the temperature index harness and its connector.
- Confirm the control part number matches the dryer.
- Correct the setup, or replace the control, only after the match is proven.
- Switch settings change how the dryer runs and heats, so a wrong position can cause a real problem.
- The correct settings come from the data plate and the manual, not from guessing.
- The control may be the wrong part for this dryer, which cannot be seen from outside.

Related Cissell dryer error codes
Why did ESEtUP appear after a repair?
A new control or a moved harness can change the setup the control sees.
Can I flip the DIP switches to fix it?
No. The wrong positions can make the dryer run incorrectly. Leave them for a technician.
Is the dryer damaged?
Usually not. The control just does not agree with the hardware.
