Electrolux Washer-Dryer Error Code 76: Drum Motor Too Hot
Error code 76 means the thermal protection switch in the drum motor, or its harness, is open. The manual equates it to E 06 in Selecta II. Let the machine cool, reduce the load, and call us if it repeats.
High: a motor protection switch has opened, and repeated running can damage the drum motor.

- Compass Control dryer program unit
What does Electrolux Professional error code 76 mean?
The drum motor turns the drum during drying, and a thermal protection switch in it opens when the windings get too hot. The dryer program unit monitors that switch and shows ERROR 076 / DRUM MOTOR TOO HOT when the circuit is open. A heavy or wet load, a stiff drum or a hot room can push the motor to the limit, but a broken wire in the harness gives the same result. The manual lists no causes and refers to E 06 in the Selecta II service manual. This differs from code 75, which watches the fan motor, and from code 09 on the washing side, which is the klixon in the washer motor. Staff see the drum stop during drying, and the machine may run again after a rest, until the load or heat builds up again.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the Compass Control washer-dryers WD4130 and WD4240, and the manual says the dryer codes apply only to these two. The code comes from the dryer program unit and corresponds to E 06 in the Selecta II manual.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

Safe checks before calling for service

- If it repeats, note the load size and how long it ran, then call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 76
- Read the code and confirm it matches E 06 in the Selecta II manual.
