Eversys Coffee Machine Error Code E-106: Steam Boiler Overheating
E-106 means the steam boiler is overheating and the machine has gone to standby on its own. Leave it in standby until it has cooled completely, and make sure the tap is open. Call us and tell us E-106 was showing.
High: the machine shut itself down to protect the boiler and will not return to service until the cause is found.

What does Eversys error code E-106 mean?
The control watches the temperature of the steam boiler and compares it with a limit it must not exceed. When the boiler gets hotter than that limit, the control does not wait for a person to react. It switches the machine to standby, shuts off heating, and reports E-106 on the display. Steam and drink service stop together. This is protection already in action, so the message describes something the machine has finished doing, not something about to happen. The reading that triggered it may be real heat or a sensor reporting too high, and the display cannot show which. A boiler running low on water can expose the element and run hot. Scale on the element can trap heat, and a heater that stays switched on when it should have cut out can climb past the limit. For that reason a technician checks the level, the heater switching and the temperature reading in sequence instead of trusting the number on the screen. Until the boiler has cooled and the reason is found, restarting repeatedly only forces the protection to trigger again. The display text is E-106.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to Eversys Cameo, Enigma and Shotmaster machines showing E-xxx error messages. Other message families on the same machine, such as W-101 for high steam pressure, describe a different condition.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Machine drops into standby by itself
- Steam and drinks are unavailable
- E-106 on the display
- Boiler area is very hot to the touch outside the cabinet
Possible causes
Listed in Eversys's documentation
- Steam boiler temperature sensor reading too high
- Heater switching or safety cut-out failing to remove power
- Steam boiler water level low or level probe failed
- Scale trapping heat on the heating element
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E-106 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A heater relay that stays closed after the control has asked it to open
- A fill valve that drips too slowly after a long busy period, leaving the element partly bare
Safe checks before calling for service
- Leave the machine in standby until it has cooled completely.
- Make sure the tap is open and the supply hose has no kinks.
- Avoid restarting again and again, because standby is there to protect the machine.
- Call us and tell us E-106 was showing, and what the machine had been doing just before it stopped.
How a technician diagnoses error code E-106
- Let the boiler cool fully, then confirm the water supply and fill level.
- Read the temperature the control reports and compare it with a probe on the boiler.
- Test the heater switching with a meter to see whether power is removed when it should be.
- Inspect the level probe and the element for scale.
- Check the safety cut-out is behaving as designed.
- Replace the sensor, relay or element only after the matching test fails.
- An overheated steam boiler stays hot and under pressure after the machine shuts down, which is a scald risk.
- Checking the heater relay and safety cut-out means working on mains-powered parts.
- Judging a true overheat against a wrong sensor reading needs a probe thermometer on the boiler.

Why did the machine go to standby by itself?
The steam boiler got hotter than the control allows, so the control stepped in to protect it. E-106 is the report that it already did.
Can I restart right away?
Wait until it has cooled, and avoid repeated restarts. Restarting over and over only makes the protection trigger again.
Is E-106 the same as high pressure?
No. E-106 is about boiler temperature. W-101 is the separate warning for steam pressure that is too high.
