Eversys Coffee Machine Error Code W-101: Steam Pressure Too High
W-101 says the steam boiler pressure is too high, triggering at 2.3 bar or higher. Do not use the steam wand, keep hands and cloths away, and switch to standby to cool. If W-101 returns, call us and do not use steam.
High: excess steam pressure is a burn risk, so steam should stay off until the cause is found.

What does Eversys error code W-101 mean?
The control keeps the steam boiler pressure inside a working band, and it has an upper limit of 2.3 bar. When the pressure reaches that level or goes above it, the control shows W-101. Staff see the warning and should keep clear of the steam wand, since a boiler with excess pressure is a burn risk. The cause is on the pressure reading or the heating control: either the heater stayed on too long and pressure really did rise, or the pressure sensor reads high when it should not. The safety valve and the pressure path are part of the check, because they are the last protection if the control fails. Scale can also affect heat control by changing how quickly the water responds. The display cannot say which it is. A technician compares a gauge reading with the control's, tests the heater switching, and checks the valve before deciding what to replace. Until then, steam stays off and the machine is best left in standby to cool. The related temperature protection is E-106. The display text is W-101.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the Eversys Cameo with W-xxx warning messages. E-106 is the separate error for steam boiler overheating, and S-100 is the waiting message for pressure that is too low.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Warning on the display
- Steam wand sputters or surges
- Boiler area feels very hot
- Warning appears after heavy steam use
Possible causes
Listed in Eversys's documentation
- Steam boiler pressure sensor reading high
- Heater not switching off in the steam boiler
- Safety valve or pressure path problem
- Scale affecting heat control
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code W-101 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A heater relay that sticks closed so pressure keeps rising
- A safety valve seat that has scaled and no longer opens at the right pressure
Safe checks before calling for service
- Do not use the steam wand until the pressure comes down.
- Keep hands and cloths away from the wand and the boiler area.
- Switch the machine to standby and let it cool.
- If W-101 returns, call us and do not use steam.
How a technician diagnoses error code W-101
- Read the pressure the control reports and compare it with a gauge.
- Test the heater switching and the cut-out.
- Inspect the safety valve for scale.
- Check the sensor signal against the gauge.
- Descale the boiler if scale is found.
- Replace the sensor, relay or valve only after the test.
- Excess steam pressure is a burn and scald hazard.
- The safety valve and heater relay are tested on a hot, pressurized boiler with mains-powered parts.
- Comparing a gauge reading with the control's takes test equipment and training.

At what pressure does W-101 appear?
At 2.3 bar or higher, according to the manual.
Is it safe to use steam after it clears?
Wait until the machine has cooled. If W-101 returns, do not use steam until we check it.
Is W-101 the same as E-106?
No. W-101 is pressure. E-106 is steam boiler overheating.
