IPSO Washer-Extractor Error Code Ed02: Drive Bus Voltage High
Ed02 on an IPSO CHM495R washer-extractor means the DC bus voltage in the motor drive went too high, and the drive stopped the motor. Power the machine down at its disconnect and have the line voltage verified by us or a plant electrician. Tell us if large machines were starting nearby.
High: the drive shuts the motor off and the machine stays down until the supply is checked.

What does IPSO error code Ed02 mean?
The drive keeps a DC bus that supplies the motor, and it has a ceiling for that bus. The basket is heavy, so when it slows after a spin it pushes energy back into the drive and raises the bus. If the incoming voltage was already on the high side, or a surge arrived from elsewhere in the plant, the bus can cross the ceiling. The drive then removes motor power at once, and the control shows Ed02. Plant staff see a halt during or after a spin. The manual lists power down, verify line voltage, and power up. High supply voltage and surges from other plant equipment come first, then the drive board. Because several large machines share a feed in a laundry, the timing of other motors starting or stopping is a useful clue.
Affected models and control systems
CHM495R washer-extractors, 20 to 100 lb, with the front-end control. Other controller generations use different codes.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Machine halts during or right after extract
- Ed02 on the display
- Basket coasts down instead of braking
- Code appears when other large machines switch off
Possible causes
Listed in IPSO's documentation
- Line voltage measured at the machine
- Large plant motors starting on the same feed
- Bus circuit in the drive
- Terminals feeding the drive
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ed02 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A feeder transformer tap set high for the building
- A dryer blower or pump switching off and sending a spike
- Drive bus parts weakened by repeated overvoltage
- Corroded or loose lugs at the machine disconnect
Safe checks before calling for service
- Power the machine down at its disconnect.
- Have plant electricians or us verify the line voltage at the machine.
- Power up again after the check.
- Schedule service if Ed02 recurs, and tell us whether other large machines were starting nearby.
How a technician diagnoses error code Ed02
- Read the code history and match Ed02 times to other plant activity.
- Meter line voltage at the machine terminals at rest and during extract.
- Look for spikes with other loads switching on the same feed.
- Check the disconnect and terminal condition for heat marks.
- Inspect the drive bus circuit; replace drive parts only after the supply passes.
- Voltage readings at the terminals mean working on live 208-240 V gear. A drive's capacitors hold dangerous charge after power-off. A high feed may be a building problem that needs a licensed electrician.

Is Ed02 a motor failure?
No. It points to the voltage supplying the drive, not to the motor windings.
Can I run the next batch?
Only after the supply check. Repeated overvoltage can harm the drive.
Why does it occur after the spin?
A slowing heavy basket returns energy to the drive and raises the bus.
