Wascomat Coin Laundry Washer Error Code 09: Drum Overfilled
Code 09 DRUM OVERFILLED appears only on coin-operated Wascomat washers. The mechanical level control, a second safety level system, tripped after water rose above the level that should have produced code 07. Shut off the water and take the machine out of service.
High: both level safeguards were reached, and the machine can flood until it is repaired.

What does Wascomat error code 09 mean?
Coin-operated Wascomat washers add a mechanical level control on top of the electronic level system. In normal operation the electronic system stops the fill first and produces code 07. If the water still keeps rising, the mechanical control trips and the display shows ERROR 009 / DRUM OVERFILLED. The manual lists the same four causes as for code 07: a blocked level hose, drops of water in the level tube, a defective filler valve and a defective electronic filler control. It refers the technician to the code 07 steps, which are to blow through the level hose and to check the level control and the water valves in the service program. In a shared laundry the point is safety: two safeguards have been passed, so the washer must not go back in service until both are verified.
Affected models and control systems
Coin-operated Wascomat washer-extractors W465H-W4300H, W475S-W4330S and W475N-W4330N with the Compass Control. The mechanical level control is found on coin-operated machines only.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

- Water continues to seep out of the door seal
- An earlier code 07 appeared on the same machine
Possible causes
Listed in Wascomat's documentation
- Blocked level hose
- Drops of water in the level tube
- Defective filler valve
- Defective electronic filler control
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 09 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A filler valve that sticks open and overwhelms the electronic level stop
- A level tube with trapped water that delays the electronic level reading
Safe checks before calling for service
- Close the water supply valves to the washer and switch it off at the disconnect.
- Keep the door closed, since opening it with the drum full releases the water.
- Mop up any water on the floor and warn customers.
- Tell us whether code 07 appeared first, then call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code 09
- Read the code and history, including any earlier code 07.
- Blow through the level hose to clear blockages.
- Check the electronic level control and the mechanical control in the service program.
- Test the filler valves to confirm they close fully.
- Test the electronic filler control output.
- Replace the failing part and run a full fill test.
- Both level safeguards need to be proven working before the machine returns to service.
- Filler valves and controls run on mains voltage inside the cabinet.
- Draining a full drum safely needs the right procedure.
How error code 09 differs from similar codes
Coin-operated code 09 DRUM OVERFILLED is the second-stage alert; code 07 OVERFILLED is the first-stage alert raised by the electronic level system.

Why is there a second level control?
Coin-operated machines run unattended, so the manual adds a mechanical control as a backup to the electronic one.
Can I just clear the code and run again?
No. Two safeguards were passed, and the cause has to be found.
Is it the same as the klixon code?
No. The klixon code has the same number but means a hot motor.
