The Wascomat W4 Series
Our Wascomat work is on the W4 series with Compass Control: hardmount H models such as the W465H, W475H, W4105H and W4300H, and softmount S, M and N models up to the W4330. The range runs from about 6.5 pounds to 330 pounds. We work on both the older and newer versions of the control.
Compass Control reports each problem as a numbered error. Code 01 means the fill took too long, 02 and 03 relate to the door, 06 and 10 relate to water in the machine and a drum that has not drained, 07 is an overfilled drum or a blocked level hose, and 08 is no heating. Codes 13 and 31 to 45 relate to motor control and the drive.
Scale, Heat and Where We Look First
Hard water, common in Houston, Los Angeles and San Diego, scales the fill valves and the level hose, and warm laundry rooms are tough on boards and drives. For a fill error we check the valves and screens. A blocked or kinked level hose gives false level readings, so we check it before the pressure switch. Coin machines also have a mechanical level control that we check.

What does error 01 mean on a Wascomat washer?
The machine did not reach its water level in time. We check the supply valves, the inlet screens and the level hose. Start by confirming that the water supply taps behind the machine are fully open.

What does a door error mean on this washer?
The control sees the door open or the door lock not engaging. Close the door firmly and try again. If it repeats, we test the lock, the switch and the wiring.
