The Ultra-Max 700 series are Star’s electric griddles. Each 12 inch section of the plate has its own thermostat knob with an ON and OFF position, so a wider griddle has more sections. The data plate model, such as 736TA or 772TCHSA, gives the width and the version.
Because each section works on its own, one section can stop heating while the rest are fine. That points us to the thermostat or the element for that section. We test the supply, the thermostat and the element for the dead section, and compare plate temperatures across sections when the heat is uneven.
These griddles are repaired, older ones included, with the price in writing first. A plate or element beyond sensible repair gets a plain answer.

Each 12 inch section has its own thermostat and element. A cold section points to that section's thermostat or element. We test both before replacing anything.

One for every 12 inch section of the plate. Wider griddles have more knobs, so count the knobs on the front to see how many sections your griddle has.
Can you repair an older Star electric griddle?
Yes. Older Star griddles are part of our service list, and a repair that is not worth the money gets said out loud. A written price comes first, before any work is done.
