Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Safety valve not holding the pilot
  2. Burner not lighting
  3. Griddle not holding temperature
  4. Chrome plate scratched or pitted
  5. Uneven heat across the plate

The TSA and TCHSA griddles in the Ultra-Max 800 series add a safety valve to the thermostat. The TCHSA versions have a chrome plate. The model on the data plate, such as 848TSA or 872TCHSA, gives the size and the finish.

When a TSA or TCHSA griddle will not stay lit, we check the safety valve and its sensing parts along with the gas supply. A griddle that does not hold temperature leads us to the thermostat. Chrome plates need gentle care, so we avoid harsh scraping when we clean for a repair.

The griddle is set up for natural gas or propane. A gas smell at any time means stepping out and calling the gas utility, then calling us to schedule service.

FAQStar Ultra-Max 800 Series TSA and TCHSA Gas Griddles questions
What does TSA stand for in the model number?

We read TSA as a thermostat with a safety valve on the data plate number. It tells us the griddle has flame protection, and we confirm this on the visit.

Is a chrome plate harder to repair around?

It needs care. We use gentle cleaning methods so the chrome surface is not scratched during a repair, and we tell you plainly if the plate itself is worn or pitted.

Why does my TSA griddle go out?

The safety valve shuts the gas when it does not sense the pilot. A dirty pilot, a weak sensing part or a draft is often the reason. We test each one.
