Frymaster M3000 Fryer Error Code E01: Remove Discard (Right)
REMOVE DISCARD (Right) on a Frymaster Gen II LOV fryer with the M3000 computer means a cook was started on the right side with a setpoint that differs from the current vat temperature. Remove and discard the product, as the manual says. It is a prompt, not a hardware failure.
Low: an operator prompt about product quality; the fryer itself keeps running.
What does Frymaster REMOVE DISCARD mean?
The M3000 computer compares the setpoint of the cook you select with the actual oil temperature in the vat. If a cook is started on the right side of a split vat, or in a full vat, while the setpoint differs from the current oil temperature, the computer shows REMOVE DISCARD (Right), logged as E01. The point is food quality: product cooked at a temperature other than the one the recipe expects will not come out right, so the control tells the cook to take it out and throw it away instead of serving it. The manual's action is exactly that, remove and discard the product. After the oil has settled at the right temperature, you start the cook again. The same prompt for the opposite side is E02. This code exists in the table for the Gen II LOV M3000 computer and is not on the 3000/3010 controller used on other Frymaster fryers.
Affected models and control systems
Gen II LOV fryers with the M3000 computer, BIELA14 series electric, with the same computer family on the BIGLA30 gas fryer. This code is in the M3000 error log only.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- REMOVE DISCARD (Right) on the computer
- Alarm that sounds when the cook is started
- Product in the right vat that has been in oil at the wrong temperature
- Cook that does not run its normal timer
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind REMOVE DISCARD on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A cook started with a setpoint different from the current vat temperature
- Product lowered on the right side of a split vat, or into a full vat, before the oil was at the selected temperature
- A cook selected right after a product change from a high to a low setpoint, with oil still cooling
- A vat that has been idle and has not reached its setpoint when the basket is dropped
- A temperature reading that lags behind the actual oil during a rapid change
Safe checks before calling for service
- Remove the product and discard it, as the manual instructs.
- Let the oil reach the temperature for the product you want to cook.
- Check the setpoint displayed for the cook against the product you are about to fry.
- Start the cook again once the oil is at temperature, and note how often the prompt returns.
How a technician diagnoses REMOVE DISCARD
- Review the error log and confirm the code is on the right side only.
- Compare the computer's displayed temperature with the vat temperature using a calibrated probe.
- Check that the right-side temperature probe reads correctly.
- Verify the setpoints programmed in the product menu.
- Test heating response on the right side if the vat is slow to reach setpoint.
- Confirming the probe reading means a resistance or temperature comparison with hot oil, which is a burn risk.
- Checking heating response involves live heating-element and relay circuits behind the panels.
- Product setpoints sit in the computer's menu, and changing them wrongly affects every cook.
How REMOVE DISCARD differs from similar codes
E01 is the right-side message; E02 is the same message for the left side. The code does not appear on the 3000/3010 controller.

Do I always have to throw the product away?
Yes, the manual says to remove and discard the product, because it was cooked from a setpoint that differs from the vat temperature.
Is this a failure?
No. It is a prompt from the computer, not a failed part. If it appears every cook, check the heating and the probe.
What is the difference between E01 and E02?
E01 is the right side and E02 is the left side. The meaning is the same.
