Frymaster Families and Controls
Frymaster builds fryers in several families, and we work on current and older ones. On the electric side that means RE14 and RE17 open-vat fryers, FilterQuick batteries with built-in filtration, and OCF30 models. The gas lines include H55, HD and LHD65 fryers, 1814 oil-conserving fryers, and millivolt MJ40 and ESG35T units that need no electrical connection. Older MJ35, MJ45, H55-2, HD50G and BIGLA30 filter batteries still work hard in many kitchens, and we repair those as well.
Controls differ as much as the fryers do: Digital Timer, CM3.5, Thermatron, the 3000 controller, FQ4000 EasyTouch and plain millivolt thermostats. A fryer line collects grease on every surface, and in a hot, humid kitchen that load shortens the life of probes, connectors and filter parts.
Our First Checks
When a fryer will not heat, we start with the gas valve, high limit and contactor, then the temperature probe. A 3000 controller that reports a heating failure, a probe failure or a recovery alarm points us to the same short list. If the filter pump will not fill the vat, or a drain or return valve does not confirm its position, we look at the filter pad, the O-rings, the pump and the valve linkage. Oil leaks usually trace back to the drain valve or the filter pan seals.
On an older fryer we say plainly when a repair no longer makes sense. We confirm the model and controller type before the visit so the right parts arrive with us, give you a written price before work starts, and back our work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Yes. We service MJ35, MJ45, H55-2 and BIGLA30 units along with current models. Tell us the model and the controller on the front, and we plan the parts before the visit. If a repair is not worth it, we say so.
What does E05 HOT HI 1 mean on a Frymaster 3000 controller?
It means the high-limit temperature went above 410 degrees F. Shut the fryer down and call us. Hot oil over temperature is not something to keep cooking through, and we test the high-limit circuit and probe.
Why will my millivolt Frymaster fryer not light?
MJ40 and ESG35T fryers have no electrical connection, so the pilot and gas valve do all the work. Make sure the gas is on. If you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility from outside. Otherwise call us.
