What does Pitco Green and yellow-left lights come on then go mean?

The primary solid state control has no text display, only indicator lights. At turn-on the green and left yellow lights come on briefly, which shows the control has power and started its check. Then they go off. In the service manual that pattern means the controller found a problem in the probe circuit: the probe is open or shorted, or the wiring between the probe and the controller is. The controller needs the probe to know the oil temperature, so when the check fails it drops the lights instead of going on to heat. The manual's action is to test the probe and the wiring between probe and controller. Compared with the digital control, which spells out Prob or Prob HI, this control gives only the light pattern, so the technician must measure to learn whether the circuit is open or shorted.
