Varimixer Mixer Error Code EE:09: Supply Voltage Too Low
EE:09 on a Varimixer ERGO mixer means the supply voltage is too low, and the manual says to call a technician. A technician should check the voltage connection. If it continues, contact technical assistance.
High: the mixer cannot run on a supply that is too low.
What does Varimixer error code EE:09 mean?
The inverter monitors the voltage coming into the mixer. If the supply drops below the level it needs, it cannot drive the motor properly, so the control stops and shows EE:09. The manual gives the cause, the supply voltage is too low, and says a technician should check the voltage connection. Low voltage can come from the building supply, from a circuit that is shared with other equipment, from a loose connection, or from a long or undersized cord. It may come and go, and it tends to show up when the mixer starts under load. There is little an operator can safely do except to report when the code appears. Because the code is about the supply and not the mixer, the fix usually lies in the outlet, the circuit or the building. A technician with a meter can see in a few minutes whether the voltage sags when the mixer starts.
Affected models and control systems
Varimixer ERGO100 and ERGO150 mixers with the VL-5 touch display, from the ERGO operating instructions (Varimixer USA, printed edition REV. - 3/27/2024).
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- EE:09 on the touch display
- Mixer stops when starting under load
- Lights or other equipment dimming on the same circuit
- Code appearing at busy times
- Mixer starts on light loads but not on heavy ones
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EE:09 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Supply voltage too low
- Mixer sharing a circuit with other large equipment
- Loose terminal at the outlet or plug
- Long or undersized extension cord
- Building supply sagging at peak demand
Safe checks before calling for service
- Make sure the mixer is plugged in firmly and uses no extension cord.
- Check that other large equipment on the same circuit is not running.
- Try Start again once.
- Do not open the plug, outlet or electrical enclosure.
- Contact technical assistance and note when the code appears.
How a technician diagnoses error code EE:09
- Read the code and the history.
- Measure the supply voltage at the outlet at rest and during start.
- Check the plug, outlet and terminals for heat marks and looseness.
- Check the circuit breaker and wire size.
- Check the inverter's reading of the supply.
- Correct the supply, then retest.
- Measuring supply voltage is live work at the outlet and breaker.
- A loose connection can overheat, which is a fire risk.
- A sagging supply can also affect other equipment on the circuit, so the check reaches beyond the mixer.
How error code EE:09 differs from similar codes
EE:10 is the opposite case, supply voltage too high.

Related Varimixer mixer error codes
Is EE:09 the mixer's problem?
Not necessarily. It points at the supply, so the outlet and circuit are checked first.
Why does it happen when starting under load?
Starting draws the most current, so a weak supply sags the most at that moment.
Can I use an extension cord?
It is better not to. A long or thin cord can add to low voltage.
