Rancilio Espresso Machine Log Entry E07: Maintenance Requested
E07 on a Rancilio Classe 11 is an entry in the error log: maintenance is due. It is a reminder, not a failed part. The manual gives no operator step, so book the routine service with your technician.
Low: a maintenance reminder; the machine keeps working.

What does Rancilio error code E07 mean?
The Classe 11 keeps track of its own use and records E07 Maintenance requested in the error log when scheduled maintenance is due. It is not a warning about anything that has broken. The entry exists because espresso machines wear in predictable ways: gaskets harden, filters clog, scale builds up and settings drift, and doing the work on a schedule is cheaper than doing it after a failure. The manual lists the code among the errors but gives no operator remedy, and the service interval itself is not given in the part we read. The machine continues to work. Responding to the reminder keeps shots consistent and avoids the slow shots and weak steam that come from neglected parts. Because the interval is not printed in the part we read, we cannot say how many months or drinks it represents. If the machine is used heavily, such as in a busy cafe, it is reasonable to expect the reminder to come around sooner than in a quiet office.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the Classe 11 USB and Xcelsius espresso machines. We read the List of errors in the 07/2014 edition of the manual.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E07 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Scheduled maintenance interval reached
- Service not done since the last reminder
- Heavy use shortening the real service interval
- Reminder not cleared after the last service
- Worn gaskets or filters showing up as slow shots
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look up when the machine was last serviced.
- Book routine maintenance with your technician.
- Keep up the daily cleaning in the meantime.
- Watch the shot time and steam strength for changes.
- Tell the technician how many drinks the machine makes per day.
How a technician diagnoses error code E07
- Read the error log and usage history to see when maintenance was last done and how heavily the machine is used.
- Inspect the group gaskets, shower screens and filters for wear and blockage.
- Test the water treatment and descale the boiler if the water and the scale level call for it.
- Check pump pressure and boiler pressure against the machine's settings with test gauges.
- Replace the wear parts that are worn, such as gaskets and screens.
- Reset the maintenance reminder after the service is finished.
- Replacing group gaskets and screens requires the boiler to be cool and depressurized, because the parts are close to hot water and steam.
- Setting pump and boiler pressure takes test gauges and knowledge of the machine's specifications.
- Resetting the reminder correctly depends on the machine's own settings and is part of the service.
How error code E07 differs from similar codes
