Eversys Automatic Coffee Machine Error Code E-094: Boiler Overheating

E-094 means a boiler was overheating, so the machine went into standby to protect itself. Let it cool, hold off on repeated restarts, and check that the water tap is open and the hose is not folded. The owner's guide says to contact your service organization.

Medium · inspection needed

High: the machine cut the heat to an overheating boiler and stays in standby until it is checked.

What does Eversys error code E-094 mean?

E-094 is the general overheating message. Eversys machines hold more than one boiler, with coffee boilers and a steam boiler, and the control watches the temperature of each. When one gets too hot, the control cuts the heat, puts the machine in standby, and staff see drinks stop. Unlike E-017 and E-018, this message does not say which boiler, so the first job is to find out whether it was a coffee boiler or the steam boiler, and then why it got too hot. The reasons are the same set that applies to any overheating: a temperature sensor on a boiler that reads low, so the heater stays on; a heater control output that does not switch off; water supply or fill level that is too low to absorb the heat; and scale build-up that slows heat transfer. In hard water, scale is a real contributor, because a coated element heats up much faster than the water around it can carry the heat away. Staff can do little beyond letting the machine cool and confirming the water tap is open, and mentioning the filter reminder when they call. Panels on a hot machine stay shut, because the boilers hold steam and hot water under pressure.

Affected models and control systems

Eversys Cameo, Enigma and Shotmaster machines, as listed in the maker's E-xxx operator error messages.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • E-094 appears and drinks stop
  • The machine falls back to standby
  • The machine feels hot around the boiler area
  • The water filter reminder is showing

Possible causes

Listed in Eversys's documentation

  • Boiler temperature sensor reading wrongly
  • Heater control output not switching off
  • Low water supply or fill level in the boiler
  • Scale build-up slowing heat transfer in hard water

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E-094 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A steam boiler level probe that reads too low so the element runs dry for a moment
  • A boiler sensor connector with a poor contact that reads cooler than the boiler really is

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Let the machine cool down and hold off on repeated restarts. The owner's guide says to contact your service organization.
  2. Make sure the water tap is open and the hose is not folded.
  3. If the water filter reminder is on, mention it when you call.
  4. Panels on a hot machine stay shut.
  5. Tell us what the machine was doing when the message came up.

How a technician diagnoses error code E-094

  1. Let the machine cool, then read E-094 and work out which boiler was involved.
  2. Check the water supply and the fill level to that boiler.
  3. Read each boiler temperature against a reference to test the sensors.
  4. Test the heater output and safety for correct switch-off.
  5. Inspect the elements for scale and descale where needed.
  6. Replace the failing part and run a full heat-up test.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Boilers hold steam and hot water under pressure.
  • The message does not say which boiler, so tracing it takes temperature readings on each.
  • Sensors, heater output and water supply each need their own test.

How error code E-094 differs from similar codes

E-017 names the left (or only) coffee boiler and E-018 the right; E-094 does not name the boiler.

E-094Questions about Eversys error code E-094
Which boiler is E-094?

The message does not say. We find out whether it was a coffee boiler or the steam boiler.

Can I restart it right away?

Let it cool and avoid repeated restarts.

Can scale really cause this?

Yes. Scale slows heat transfer, so the element overheats.
