Eversys Automatic Coffee Machine Error Code E-102: Steam Boiler Empty
E-102 shows Steam Boiler Empty Timeout: the control waited for the steam boiler to read as empty and the time ran out. Make sure the tap feeding the machine is fully open, check the filter reminder, and restart once. If it returns, stay away from steam and call us.
Medium: steam and hot water may be lost while coffee can often continue, until the boiler level reading is fixed.

What does Eversys error code E-102 mean?
When an Eversys machine needs to empty its steam boiler, for example during a drain step, it waits for the level sensing to report that the boiler is empty. The control allows a set time for this. If the time runs out and the boiler still does not read empty, the machine displays Steam Boiler Empty Timeout, code E-102. It is a message about the water level reading in the steam boiler, so the first checks are the water supply and the level sensing. The maker's list covers the water supply to the machine and the tap position, the steam boiler level probe and its wiring, the drain or emptying path of the steam boiler, and scale that can coat a level probe. A probe coated with scale can keep reading wet when the boiler is empty, and a blocked emptying path can really hold the water in. Staff may lose steam and hot water, while coffee drinks may carry on. The tap check is first because it is easy and it costs nothing, and the filter reminder is worth a mention since an overdue filter lets scale form. Steam is dangerous, so if the message returns, keep clear and call us.

What you may notice
- E-102 shows on the display
- Steam and hot water are unavailable
- Coffee drinks may still work
- The message returns after a restart
Possible causes
Listed in Eversys's documentation
- Water tap not fully open
- Failed steam boiler level probe or wiring
- Blocked emptying path of the steam boiler
- Scale coating the level probe
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E-102 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A probe tip crusted with scale in a hard-water area so it reads wet when the boiler is empty
- A drain path partly blocked by loose scale flakes
Safe checks before calling for service
- Make sure the tap feeding the machine is fully open.
- Check the water filter reminder and tell us if the filter is due.
- Turn the machine off at the main switch, pause for ten seconds and turn it back on.
- If the message comes back, stay away from steam and call us.
- Tell us if steam or hot water was working before the message.
How a technician diagnoses error code E-102
- Confirm E-102 and watch the steam boiler emptying step.
- Check the water supply and the filter condition.
- Test the steam boiler level probe signal against the real level.
- Check the wiring from the probe to the board.
- Inspect the emptying path for blockage and descale as needed.
- Replace the part that tests bad and run steam and hot water tests.
- The steam boiler holds hot water and steam under pressure.
- A coated level probe and a blocked emptying path look the same on the display, so each needs a test.
- Descaling the probe needs the boiler cooled and opened.
How error code E-102 differs from similar codes
E-103 is the opposite timing problem: the steam boiler took too long to fill; E-102 is about it not reading empty.

Can I still make coffee?
Coffee drinks may carry on, but steam and hot water may be unavailable.
Does the water filter matter?
Yes. An overdue filter lets scale coat the level probe.
Is E-102 the same as E-103?
No. E-103 is a fill timeout; E-102 is an empty timeout.
