Imperial IHR and IR Series
Imperial ranges are built heavy, and plenty of them are still cooking long after they were installed. The IHR heavy-duty ranges, such as the IHR-4 and IHR-6, have open burners, manual valves and an oven with a 100 percent safety pilot. The IR Series, including the IR-6 and IR-4-G12, is also gas. Base styles vary with the -C, -XB and -M suffixes on the model name, so the full model number helps us confirm the right parts before we arrive.
Pilot, Flame and Thermostat Checks
If you smell gas, get out of the building and phone the gas utility from outside. Otherwise, when the oven pilot will not stay lit we check the pilot flame, the thermocouple and the safety valve. Yellow or uneven burner flames usually come from clogged ports or a mixture setting that has drifted, so we clean and adjust first. If the oven temperature is off, we compare the thermostat setting with the real temperature in the cavity before changing parts.
Grease, heat and humid air are hard on range valves, pilot tubes and knobs over the years, and a range that has never been serviced often shows it. We confirm parts before the visit, since older Imperial ranges can need a part to be located. You get a written price before work starts, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Imperial lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
Why won't the oven pilot stay lit on my Imperial range?
A weak pilot flame, a worn thermocouple or a safety valve that no longer holds open can all be the cause. We test them in that order and give you a written price first.
Do you repair the IHR and IR Series ranges?
Yes. We service IHR heavy-duty ranges and IR Series ranges, including older ones. Send us the model from the data plate, and we line up parts before the visit.
My Imperial burner flames look yellow. Is that a problem?
Yellow or lazy flames mean the gas and air are not mixing properly, often from clogged ports. Turn that burner off and call us. We clean the ports and adjust the mixture.
