Frymaster M3000 Fryer Service Required Messages: Setup and Boards
The Service Required list on a Frymaster Gen II LOV fryer with the M3000 computer includes MISCONFIGURED ENERGY TYPE, RTC INVALID DATE, HIGH LIMIT FAILURE, AIF PROBE, ATO PROBE and MIB BOARD. For the first two, press 1234 to enter setup and set the energy type and the date. For the rest, call service.
Medium: two items are setup fixes, but the high-limit, probe and board items need a technician.
What does Frymaster MISCONFIGURED ENERGY TYPE mean?
The M3000 computer groups several messages in one Service Required list. Two of them are setup problems an operator can correct: MISCONFIGURED ENERGY TYPE means the energy type in setup is wrong and must be set to gas or electric, and RTC INVALID DATE means the date held by the computer is invalid. Pressing 1234 opens setup so that you can set the energy type and the date. The other four messages are problems with the fryer itself. HIGH LIMIT FAILURE means the high-limit circuit has an issue. AIF PROBE and ATO PROBE mean the AIF RTD or ATO RTD reading is out of range, and MIB BOARD means the MIB connection or board has a problem. These need a technician. The setup items often appear after a computer is replaced, a power loss clears its memory, or a new board has not been configured. Compare each one with the manual before assuming a part has failed.

Safe checks before calling for service

How a technician diagnoses MISCONFIGURED ENERGY TYPE
- Read the error log to match the message to its code.
- For setup items, confirm the energy type matches the fryer and set the date.
- For high-limit, probe and board items, run the matching tests from the manual.
- Check the software versions and CAN connections for MIB and board messages.
- Confirm the repair and clear the message.
- Energy type setup decides how the fryer heats, and a wrong choice can disable heating.
- The probe, high-limit and board items involve live circuits at 208 to 240 V.
- Several different messages share one list, so the exact one decides the test.
How MISCONFIGURED ENERGY TYPE differs from similar codes
This is the M3000 Service Required list. On the 3000 controller the same subjects are shown as E-codes such as E04 for HI 2 BAD and E17 for the ATO probe.
