Nor-Lake LogiTemp Walk-In Display Ed: Controller in Intro Mode
Ed is the intro mode on a Nor-Lake LogiTemp controller, shown as Ed with the yellow and red LEDs flashing. It is a startup state waiting for basic setup, not a refrigeration alarm. Do not press buttons at random, watch the box with a thermometer and call us so the controller can be set up for your walk-in.
High: the controller is not set up, so the walk-in may not run properly until it is configured.

What does Nor-Lake error code Ed mean?
When a KE2 Evap OEM controller powers up without its basic setup, it does not guess. It enters an intro mode, shows Ed on the display and flashes the yellow and red LEDs together. In that state the controller is waiting for someone to complete the setup steps for this walk-in, such as the type of box and the basic values that tell it how to run. Ed is not an alarm about the refrigeration. It is a sign that the controller has not been told what it is controlling. You often see it on a new controller or after the settings were cleared. Until the setup is finished, the walk-in will not run the way you expect, and the display cannot be trusted to protect the box. Pressing keys at random can change values that matter, so it is better to leave the controller alone and use a hand thermometer while arrangements are made. A power problem that wiped the saved settings can also bring the controller back to Ed.

- Controller that was reset
- Setup information for this walk-in not entered
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ed on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Controller replaced after a failure and not yet programmed
- Brief power loss during a storm that cleared the memory
- Settings reset by someone pressing a key combination
Safe checks before calling for service
- Do not press buttons at random, since that can change settings.
- Watch the box with a thermometer, as the display cannot be trusted yet.
- Move food if the box is warming.
- Call us to schedule service so the controller can be set up for your walk-in.
How a technician diagnoses error code Ed
- Read Ed and ask when the controller was replaced or last lost power.
- Check the box temperature and the state of the compressor and fans.
- Check the incoming power quality.
- Enter the basic setup for the box and the system.
- Confirm the controller runs the cycle normally and the alarms are correct.
- Setup values decide how the compressor and defrost run, so errors can damage equipment.
- The controller sits in a panel with live control voltage.
- Right values depend on the installation data we keep for each box.
How error code Ed differs from similar codes
Ed is not an alarm like CSA or ASA. It means the controller is waiting for setup.

Is Ed an alarm?
No. It is a startup state, but the walk-in may not run normally while it shows.
