Nor-Lake LogiTemp Walk-In Alarm HtA: High Air Temperature
HtA is the high air temperature alarm on Nor-Lake walk-in coolers and freezers with a Split-Pak system and LogiTemp control. The walk-in has been warmer than its limit for too long, and food inside may be at risk. Check the box and product temperatures right away, keep the door shut and move perishable food if the box is warm.
High: the walk-in is warmer than its limit and stored food may be at risk.

What does Nor-Lake error code HtA mean?
The LogiTemp controller keeps a limit for how warm the box may get. The limit is built from three settings: Room Temp, Air Temp Diff and the High Temp Alarm Offset. The alarm also waits for a delay, so a short warm spell during loading does not set it off. When the box air stays above that limit for longer than the High Temp Alarm Delay, the display shows HtA. It is the alarm that matters most for food safety, because it reports the result that all other problems lead to. The reasons are many: a door left open, a worn gasket or a door that does not latch, a dirty condenser or weak airflow at the condensing section, an iced evaporator or failed evaporator fans, or an air sensor and alarm settings that are not right. The first step is to learn whether the warmth is real, and the second is to protect the product.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the LogiTemp controller on Nor-Lake walk-in coolers and freezers with a Split-Pak system. The limit depends on the controller's temperature settings.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- HtA on the display with an alarm sound or LED
- Box air warm to the hand
- Soft or warm product
- Ice on the coil or a stopped fan at the evaporator
Possible causes
Listed in Nor-Lake's documentation
- Door left open, worn gasket or door that does not latch
- Dirty condenser or weak airflow at the condensing section
- Iced evaporator or failed evaporator fans
- Air sensor or alarm settings not right
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code HtA on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Large warm delivery loaded at once, overwhelming the system for hours
- Condenser coil matted with kitchen grease
- Compressor off on a safety, so nothing is cooling
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check the box with a thermometer and look at product temperature.
- Close and latch the door, and keep it shut.
- Move perishable food to another cooler if the box is warm.
- Look for ice or a stopped fan at the evaporator from outside, and call us to schedule service right away.
How a technician diagnoses error code HtA
- Read HtA, the box temperature and the alarm settings.
- Check the door, gasket and latch.
- Check whether the compressor, condenser fan and evaporator fans run.
- Inspect the evaporator for ice and the condenser for dirt.
- Compare the air sensor with a reference thermometer.
- Test the refrigeration circuit with gauges if the airflow checks out.
- Food safety limits make fast and correct diagnosis important.
- The condensing unit and evaporator fans carry live voltage.
- Gauge readings on the refrigerant circuit need certified handling.
How error code HtA differs from similar codes
LtA is the opposite alarm for a box that is too cold. HtA covers all the reasons for a warm box.

How warm is too warm for food?
Check your product temperatures and local food safety rules. If in doubt, move the food.
Can I silence HtA?
Silencing it does not cool the box. Fix the cause first.
Will HtA clear on its own?
It clears when the box returns below its limit, but a repeat means something is wrong.
