Kold Locker, Fast-Trak and Fineline Rooms
We repair Nor-Lake walk-ins from the older Kold Locker quick-ship boxes to the semi-custom Fast-Trak and custom Fineline rooms. Kold Locker model numbers read like a tape measure: KL66 is a six-by-six-foot room, a 77 in the number means a 7 ft 7 in ceiling, and 74 means 7 ft 4 in with no floor. Outdoor boxes carry KOD numbers, and the cooler and freezer versions use KLB, KLF, KODB and KODF. On the cooling side we see Capsule Pak plug-in systems and Split-Pak remote systems.
Where We Start on a Nor-Lake Box
Current boxes use LogiTemp controllers, which report trouble with short alarm codes: HtA for high air temperature, dor for a door left open, and sensor alarms for a shorted or open probe. We read the alarm, then look at the door, the gasket and the evaporator before we touch the controller. A dirty condensing unit and outdoor heat, strongest in Miami, Houston and inland Los Angeles, are the usual reasons a box drifts warm. An evaporator coated in ice sends us to the defrost cycle, including the time clock on older Kold Locker systems. Older indoor boxes use a condensate vaporizer instead of a drain line, so a wet floor near the unit takes us there.
Older Boxes and Honest Advice
Many Kold Locker rooms have worked for years in kitchens and stockrooms. Panels, gaskets and hinges often outlast the refrigeration parts, so we usually repair the system and keep the room. When a repair is not worth it, we say so. You get the price in writing before work starts, and our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty. Before the visit we confirm the controller and the type of cooling system from your model label.

The digits after KL give the width and length in feet, and 77 or 74 marks the ceiling height. KL66 is a six-by-six room. Send us the number from the label and we plan parts around it.
Is a dor alarm on my LogiTemp a door problem?
Usually. We check that the door closes fully, then the switch and the gasket. If the alarm stays with the door shut, the switch or its wiring is the next stop.
Do you service the older Kold Locker systems with a time clock?
Yes. They are older systems still in service, and we repair them. If a repair costs more than it makes sense for the age of the system, we tell you before any work begins.
