Ed04 on a Design 2 or 3 CHM495R washer-extractor is a locked rotor error: the motor never reached speed at startup, so the drive stopped. Cut the power, hold off on the door until the lock releases, and schedule service if it returns.

What does Speed Queen error code Ed04 mean?
When the drive starts the motor, it expects the rotor to start turning and pick up speed. If the motor never reaches speed at start-up, the drive concludes the rotor is locked and stops to protect itself. The control shows Ed04. A drum that is jammed is the first picture, but the owner's manual tells a technician to verify the motor mounting and look for obstructions after powering down. The list in the manual is short and physical: the motor mounting, obstructions in the drum or tub, bearings, and the motor and drive. A heavy item wedged between the drum and the tub, a seized bearing, or a motor that has shifted on its mount can all keep the drum from turning, and a failing motor or drive can look the same. The code is shown only by Design 2 and 3 machines. Never try to turn the drum while it has power.
