The Quantum frontloader is the washer we see most. Its control watches the door lock, a pressure sensor for water level and an inverter that spins the drum, and when something stops the washer it shows a code for the circuit involved. That saves time. A fill problem sends us to the inlet screens and the pressure sensor, since hard water clogs those screens over time.
Quantum top-loaders use a front-end control and an output board. When one drains slowly, we look at the lid switch, the drain pump, and the hose and standpipe height. Older top-loaders with timer, EDC or MDC controls are simpler machines, and many are worth keeping when the transmission and tub are sound.
The S-prefix washer-extractors from 20 to 100 pounds use a front-end control with a drive board. A drive code on the display tells us whether to start with the board or the motor. We confirm parts by model number before we come out.

The control did not reach the programmed water level in time. We check the supply valves, hose screens, mixing valve and pressure sensor. Making sure both hoses are fully open is a safe first step.
Is it worth repairing an old top-load washer?
Often yes, if the tub and transmission are sound. We give you the repair cost in writing and say plainly when a newer machine makes more sense for your laundry.
What does an unbalance stop mean?
The washer sensed the load shifting too much to spin safely. Redistribute the load and restart. If it repeats with small loads, we check the balance switch, suspension and drive.
