UniMac Washer-Extractor Error Code Ed07: No Setup Packet
Ed07 means the drive received movement commands before it received the setup packet that tells it how to drive the motor. Switch the power off and on, let the control finish start-up, and call us if Ed07 returns.
Medium: the batch stops, but a power cycle usually clears a one-time start-up slip.

What does UniMac error code Ed07 mean?
Before the motor drive of a UniMac UC-series washer-extractor can turn the motor, the front-end control sends it a setup packet that holds the motor and spin parameters. After that, the control sends run commands. The drive expects to see the setup first. If a run command arrives without it, the drive does not know how to drive the motor, rejects the command and shows Ed07, and the batch stops. This usually looks like a start-up or communication slip between control and drive. The manual lists a broken communication link between the control and the drive, a power interruption just before the cycle began, control and drive software that do not match, and a board that dropped the setup packet. The message applies to Design 2 and 3 models only. Since the likeliest case is a timing glitch at power-up, the operator step is simply to switch the power off, then on, and give the control time to finish starting before you press start.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the CHM495R family of UniMac UC-series washer-extractors, 20 to 100 lb, with the motor drive, for example the UCH020GNF. Only Design 2 and 3 models report Ed07.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Ed07 on the display right after pressing start
- Drum that never begins to turn
- The code appearing just after a power-up or power blink
- A cycle that works on the second attempt
Possible causes
Listed in UniMac's documentation
- A broken communication link between the control and the drive
- A power interruption just before the cycle began
- Control and drive software that do not match
- A board that dropped the setup packet
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ed07 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A brownout or flicker on the building supply that restarts the drive but not the control
- A control or drive board replaced earlier with a different software revision
- A communication plug that makes intermittent contact when the cabinet vibrates
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the power off, then on; that is the whole operator step.
- Let the control finish its start-up before you press start.
- Start one batch and watch whether Ed07 comes back.
- If it does, note whether a power blink or a recent power-up came just before the message, then call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code Ed07
- Read the code and ask whether the message follows a power interruption or appears on every start.
- Check the supply for dips or interruptions at the disconnect.
- Inspect the control-to-drive communication plug and wiring for intermittent contact.
- Compare the software revisions on the control and the drive with the maker's compatibility information.
- Replace a board only after the link and software have been checked.
- Testing the control-to-drive link means working near live line-voltage terminals.
- Software compatibility between control and drive can only be confirmed with the maker's information and service tools.
- Swapping boards without checking them can pair mismatched software and cause new errors.

Is a power cycle really enough?
Often yes. If the setup packet was dropped at start-up, a clean power-up sends it again.
What if it comes back every day?
A repeating Ed07 points to the link, the software pairing or a board, and we should check it.
Is Ed07 the same as Ed01?
No. Ed01 means no communication at all. Ed07 means they talk, but the setup packet is missing.
