UniMac Industrial Washer Error Code FILL: Water Not Reaching Level

FILL means the washer-extractor did not take on water within the time allowed for the step. The error is recoverable: Enter retries the fill for its programmed time, and Clear aborts the cycle. If nobody answers inside two minutes the computer aborts the cycle itself.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the cycle halts and is aborted after two minutes with no answer.

What does UniMac error code FILL mean?

Each wash step that needs water is timed. The WE-6 computer opens the inlet, watches for the level to be reached, and counts the seconds. When the allowed time runs out with no water at level, it freezes the cycle, drops its outputs, and displays FILL while the buzzer relay pulses one second on and one second off for two minutes. The operator then picks: Enter gives the fill step another go for the time it was originally programmed with, and Clear throws the cycle away and moves to the stop routine. Silence for two minutes counts as an abort. One special case is worth knowing in a service department: test cycle 01 at step 01 is built to produce FILL, and pressing Start carries on. A FILL there says nothing about the machine's health. Anywhere else, it points to water that did not arrive fast enough or at all.

Affected models and control systems

UniMac pocket hardmount washer-extractors UW35P2, UW35P3, UW60P2 and UW60P3 with the WE-6 computer control.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • FILL shown on the display
  • Buzzer beeping once a second
  • Tub dry or barely wet
  • Machine waiting for a keypress

Possible causes

Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code FILL on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • One or both supply valves shut at the wall
  • Low supply pressure in the building
  • Fill valve coil that does not pull in
  • Level input that never sees the water

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Look at the hot and cold supply valves behind the machine and confirm they are open.
  2. Press Enter to give the fill step another try.
  3. If FILL appears again, press Clear and stop using the machine.
  4. Do not keep pressing Enter in a loop; each retry waits for the full step time.
  5. Record the cycle, the step number and whether you were in test cycle 01.

How a technician diagnoses error code FILL

  1. Read FILL with the cycle and step number it was in.
  2. Check pressure at the inlet and look at the inlet screens.
  3. Energize the fill valve at the step and check coil voltage and resistance.
  4. Check the level input and wiring to the computer.
  5. Compare the programmed fill time with the actual time to fill.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The fill valves and sensing share line-voltage wiring in the cabinet.
  • Judging a level input needs the wiring diagram and a meter.
  • Lengthening a fill time means entering programming mode, which a technician does against site settings.

How error code FILL differs from similar codes

FILL is a recoverable alarm with a two-minute answer window. DOOR and OVERHT end the cycle without that choice.

FILLQuestions about UniMac error code FILL
Is FILL the same as EMTY?

They mirror each other. FILL is water that did not come in; EMTY is water that did not go out.

Does test cycle 01 give a real FILL?

The manual says step 01 intentionally produces it, so press Start there.

I pressed Enter and nothing changed.

The step ran again for its programmed time. If water still did not arrive, the supply or the valve is the problem.
