UniMac Washer-Extractor Error Code EI05: IR Invalid Data
EI05 means the control received invalid or out-of-range data over the infrared link, usually a programming option set to a value it does not accept. Recheck the value on the tool and try again.
Low: the control refused one programming value and production cycles are unaffected.

What does UniMac error code EI05 mean?
When a programming tool loads an option into a UniMac UW pocket hardmount washer-extractor, the control checks that the value falls inside the range that option allows. If it does not, the control refuses the value and shows EI05. The link works, but the washer refuses the value. Cycles already stored on the machine keep working as before, so production is not interrupted. Typical examples are a temperature, time or level that is larger or smaller than the control can use, or a number entered into the wrong field. The manual points to the programming option value that was sent, tool settings and file for this machine, typing or entry mistakes in the option, and control limits for that option. The fix is to compare the number with the allowed range for that option, correct it on the tool, and send it again. Changing one option at a time makes it easier to see which value was refused.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the PHM1263R family of UniMac UW pocket hardmount washer-extractors, models UWL, UWN and UWU 035 to 125, such as the UWL035K12. EI05 is an infrared data message on this control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- EI05 on the display after sending an option
- One setting that will not take
- Other settings that load without trouble
- Washer cycles unchanged
Possible causes
Listed in UniMac's documentation
- The programming option value that was sent
- Tool settings and file for this machine
- Typing or entry mistakes in the option
- Control limits for that option
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EI05 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A value entered in the wrong units, such as a time in minutes where seconds are expected
- A settings file prepared for a washer with a wider range of options
- A decimal point or digit slipped during entry on the tool
Safe checks before calling for service
- Recheck the programming option value on the tool and try again.
- Compare the value with the allowed range for that option.
- Change only one option at a time.
- If EI05 returns with a sensible value, note which option it was and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code EI05
- Read the code and identify which option was being sent.
- Check the option's allowed range in the maker's programming manual.
- Resend the option alone from a clean tool session.
- Confirm that the settings file belongs to this machine's model range.
- Look at the control only if valid values are still refused.
- Changing wash or spin options without the maker's ranges can damage linens or strain the machine.
- Verifying a refused value means comparing it with the programming manual for this exact control.
- A control that rejects valid values has to be tested with a known-good tool and file.

Did the washer accept part of my changes?
Possibly. Options accepted before the invalid one remain, so review the settings afterward.
Will EI05 affect existing cycles?
No. Stored cycles keep working as before.
Is EI05 different from EI03?
Yes. EI03 is a command that does not fit the machine or mode. EI05 is a value that is out of range.
